Review of atmospheric, aerodynamic, and propulsive concepts. Examination of steady state range, endurance, cruise, descent-ascent, and turning performance using point mass three degree of freedom model. Trimmed flight, power-thrust curve analysis, and flight-maneuver envelope topics. Examination of transient flight motion stability and performance using full body six degree of freedom model. Static stability, control power, trimmed flight condition, linearization about equilibrium, steady state and perturbed forces, longitudinal and lateral-directional subsystems, dynamic stability, transient response, and flying qualities topics. Examination of aircraft flight control including stability augmentation and autopilot systems. Governing equation of motion derivation, utilization, and modification using frequency domain transfer function and time domain state space concepts. Topics: 1.
