Section A (Short Answer Type Questions)

(10 × 2 = 20 Marks)

1. Define an energy signal and a power signal. Provide one example of each.
2. State and explain the time-shifting property of the Laplace Transform.
3. Determine whether the system y(t) = x(2t) is time-invariant. Justify your answer.
4. Differentiate between causal and non-causal systems with suitable examples.
5. What is the significance of the Region of Convergence (ROC) in the Z-transform?
6. Sketch the unit step function u(t) and its Laplace Transform.
7. Explain the concept of convolution in the context of continuous-time signals.
8. List the conditions necessary for a system to be linear and time-invariant.

9. Differentiate between continuous-time and discrete-time signals.


10. State and explain the Parsevel’s theorem.

b) Find the even and odd components of the signal x(t) = e^{-t}u(t).

Q6. a) Explain the concept of system stability in the Laplace domain.

the system.
