Reason: - According to homogeneity of dimensions only those quantity can be added or subtracted
which have same dimensions and each term of an equation must have same dimension.
9. Assertion: - Two athletics moving on a circular trac and on its diameter respectively will have zero
displacement and zero distances covered in one complete cycle.
10. Assertion: - Meera thrown Javelins with same initial velocities as thrown by all others but she has
thrown at longest lenght .
Reason: - Meera made her throw at 450 for achieving maximum range but others failed to manage this
condition.
11. (i) Explain the physical meaning of mathematical statement Q =nu. What are n and u?
(ii) What are the criteria for choosing a unit for a given physical quantity? Or Why the S.I. System
of Unit is in use instead of other Systems of Unit?
12. (i) If magnitude of resultant of two equal vectors F is equal to √ 2 F then find out angle between
them.
(ii) In above problem also find direction of resultant vector with respect to one of vectors.
13. If Time period T of a Simple pendulum depends on effective length l, mass of bob m and
gravitational acceleration g then apply dimensional analysis to deduce/derive the relation for Time
period T of Simple pendulum.
Or
If centripetal force Fc on a body of mass m moving in a circular path of radius r with velocity v depends
on r, v, m then apply dimensional analysis to deduce/derive the relation for centripetal force F c.
(ii) If θ be the angle made by a vector A then resolve it in two mutual directions. Give resultant in
terms of its vertical and horizontal component in magnitude and direction.

State polygon law of vector addition. How will you subtract a vector B from another vector A?
Wind is blowing at a velocity 10 √ 3 m/sec in west to east direction. A boat with a flag on its mast is

15. Calculate total distance covered and displacement of a body for which velocity-time graph is
provided below, by graphical method.

16. State principle of homogeneity of dimensions and give the applications and limitations of
dimensional analysis.

Slope tanθ = (dx/dt) of position or displacement (x)- time t curve gives instantaneous velocity of
moving body/particle. Slope tanθ = (dv/dt) of velocity v gives instantaneous acceleration. We can find

time derivative of any function of time by using formula dt /dt = n t .
If position of a particle moving in +x direction is given by x = 7t-4 in meter then give
answer of following questions (any four): -

18. (i) Derive second equation of motion by analytical method only. (2 marks)
(ii) If Ms. Maya throws a stone vertically upward with velocity 49 m/sec from a hill 70 meter high.
Then (a) How much height it will raise from top of building before it starts free fall? (b)
How much time it takes to raise this height from top of hill? (c) Calculate the total time it takes before

(ii) If Ms. Khadija drops a coin freely from a height 19.6 meter then find out

(i) What are the conditions for keeping a particle in uniform circular motion. (½ Marks)
(ii) Derive relation for change in velocity of a mass body in uniform circular motion with
velocity v in a circular path of radius r. How do angular velocity ω is related with linear
velocity v.(3 Marks)
(iii) A bike rider in a circular groove of radius 10 cm in a well of death moves along the groove
steadily and completes 35 revolutions in 200 sec. Calculate its linear speed, angular speed
and acceleration acting on it in magnitude as well as in direction. ( ½ x 3 = 1 ½ Marks)
