Quality Function Deployment

Quality Function Deployment (QFD) is a method to design products based on customer needs. It involves constructing a "House of Quality" matrix that: 1) lists important customer wants; 2) relates these wants to technical design attributes; and 3) evaluates competitors' performance. An example House of Quality is provided for a camera design project, which maps customer wants to design attributes, technical specifications, and competitor analysis. The full QFD process cascades information through multiple Houses of Quality to transform customer needs into a final product.
