Reading Decimal and Converting Decimal To Fraction

Decimal numbers are a shorthand way to write fractions with denominators that are powers of 10. A decimal has a whole number part to the left of the decimal point and a decimal part to the right. To convert a decimal to a fraction, write the decimal over 1, then multiply the top and bottom by 10 for each decimal place. Simplify the resulting fraction to get the equivalent fraction. For example, to convert 0.75 to a fraction, write 0.75/1, then multiply top and bottom by 100 to get 75/100, which simplifies to 3/4.

 Step 3: simplify the fraction

Final answer:
Example 2: Convert 2.35 to fraction

Put the 2 aside and just work on 0.35

Step: Write down

Step 2: Multiply both top bottom by 100

Step 3: simplify the fraction:
