Grade 11-STEM Blessed John of Rieti: Statistics and Probability

The document summarizes the steps to analyze sample data from a population of grade 11 STEM students' weights. It calculates the population mean, variance, and standard deviation. It then takes samples from the population and calculates the mean of the sample means and the standard error. A histogram of the sample means is constructed. Finally, it computes the variance, standard deviation, and distribution of the sampling distribution.

Problem:
The problem's data derived from the weight of random
grade 11 stem students. The population consists of 7
people and the data given were 37kg, 42kg, 51kg,
44kg, 39kg, 58kg, and 52kg, with a sample size of 5.

• Compute the population mean and the population standard deviation

of the weight of the random grade 11-STEM students
• Compute the mean of the sample means and the standard error.
Make the histogram of the sample mean.
STEP 1: Compute the
population
Population: 37, 42, 51, 44, 39, 58, 52

n= 7, r= 5

The number of
sample is 21.
STEP 2: Compute the mean of the
𝜇=
∑𝑋
=
(37 +39 + 42+ 44 +51 +52 +58)
population.
𝜇 = 46.14
𝑁 7

STEP 3: Compute the variance and standard deviation of the

population. 2
2 (𝑋−𝜇) 354.86
𝜎 = = =50.69
𝑁 7

The population mean is
∑ ( 𝑋 −𝜇)

STEP 6: Compute the standard error and mean of the sampling
distribution

𝜇2=∑ 𝑋 ∙𝑃(𝑋)=46.1244
The mean of the
sampling distribution is
46.1244
STEP 7: Compute the variance and standard deviation of the
sampling distribution.

The sampling distribution

have a mean of 46.12,
variance of 3.33 and
standard deviation of 1.82
