Circular motion is the motion of an object moving in a circular path. Examples include a stone tied to a string rotating in a circle, a car going around a roundabout, and orbiting planets. Circular motion can be uniform, with constant speed and radius, or non-uniform, with changing speed. In uniform circular motion, the velocity is always tangent to the circle. Robert Hooke is credited with introducing the idea of circular motion caused by a single centripetal force to Isaac Newton.

Circular Motion:

changing direction, the moving object is
undergoing acceleration by a centripetal force in the

this acceleration, the object would move in a straight
line, according to Newton's laws of motion.
