What Is The Circular Motion

Circular motion is the motion of an object moving in a circular path. Examples include a stone tied to a string rotating in a circle, a car going around a roundabout, and orbiting planets. Circular motion can be uniform, with constant speed and radius, or non-uniform, with changing speed. In uniform circular motion, the velocity is always tangent to the circle. Robert Hooke is credited with introducing the idea of circular motion caused by a single centripetal force to Isaac Newton.

Circular Motion

By:Dunyagozel Agoyliyeva
What is the circular motion?

Circular motion is described as

a movement of an object while
rotating along a circular path.
Circular Motion:

The equations of motion

describe the movement of the center of mass of a
body. In circular motion, the distance between
the body and a fixed point on the surface remains
the same.
The best exapmles of circular
motion?

Stone Tied to a String.

Circular Motion:

a car going around a

roundabout
Examples of Circular Motion:

HARD DRIVE
CD PLAYER
DVD
RECORD PLAYER
MERRY GO ROUND
SLING SHOT
BUCKET ON A ROPE
ORBITING PLANET
Who introduced circular motion?

It has been suggested that the idea of circular

motion as caused by a single force was introduced
to Newton by Robert Hooke.
Uniform Circular Motion

Uniform circular motion: motion in a

circle of constant radius at constant speed
Instantaneous velocity is always tangent to
circle.
Uniform

In non-uniform circular motion an

object is moving in
a circular path with a varying speed.
Since the speed
is changing, there is tangential
acceleration in
addition to normal acceleration.
Non uniform:

In physics, uniform
circular motion
describes the motion of
a body traversing a
circular path at
constant speed.
Non uniform:

 In non-uniform circular motion

the net acceleration
(a) is along the direction of Δv,
which is directed
inside the circle but does not
pass through its center
Circular Motion:

 Since the object's velocity vector is constantly

changing direction, the moving object is
undergoing acceleration by a centripetal force in the
direction of the center of rotation. Without
this acceleration, the object would move in a straight
line, according to Newton's laws of motion.
