C04 - LD800HSE Linking Device
C04 - LD800HSE Linking Device
Description:
This chapter mediates basic knowledge about the LD800HSE Linking Device.
Objectives:
On completion of this chapter you are familiar with LD800HSE Components, the
Assembly Basics, Power Distribution, Termination Details, Processor Details
and the LD800HSE’s Diagnostics.

Status Indications
P = Power Supply
Lit (Green) = Supply voltage is present
HSE = Ethernet Port
Lit (Green) = Ethernet link has been established (10 or 100MB/s)
Flashing (Green) = Device is transmitting Ethernet frames
F = Error Status (after self-test)
Lit (Red) = Self-test after power-on in progress or stopped due to fatal
error (see table x to troubleshoot further)
Flashing (Green) = Faulty component detected (details on web page
/Information/Hardware/Diagnostics)
R = Ready for Operation
Lit (Green) = Power-on self-test successfully completed, device is
operational.
1 = Status of H1 Channel 1
Flashing (Green) = Device is in Channel H1-1 (FF1) in logical token
ring.
2 = Status of H1 Channel 2
Flashing (Green) = Device is in Channel H1-2 (FF2) in logical token
ring.
3 = Status of H1 Channel 3
Flashing (Green) = Device is in Channel H1-3 (FF3) in logical token
ring.
4 = Status of H1 Channel 4
Flashing (Green) = Device is in Channel H1-4 (FF4) in logical
token ring.
Serial Interface
The serial interface RS-232 is not galvanically isolated.
The maximum cable length is 3 m according to EMC requirements.
The baud rate is pre configured to 115,2 kbit/s.
CPU
Motorola MPC855T
PowerPC architecture (32bit)
Clock speed: 50 MHz (resulting in 66MIPS)
Ethernet on board (10/100 BaseT autosense)
Interrupt controller, Timer
RTC, Portpins, Watchdog
Memory
4MB
Flash memory
Storage of application and operating system
(compressed), no HD necessary
H1 Link Redundancy
Failure of LAS (=LD) results in pause on H1 bus, reported to monitoring instance
Failure of LD in one link leads to switch over
LD Application / HSE Level Redundancy
Cyclic exchange of life-signs via serial link (intervals 50ms max.)
Additional monitoring via TCP connection (generic messages) to avoid switch-over due to failure
of serial interface (failure of serial communication visible in diagnostic interface)
If primary doesn‘t‚’see‘ backup neither via TCP nor via serial, if refrains from LAS role in H1 links
Secondary LD detects H1 failure and takes over (transfer of LAS role)
Mandatory Checks
RAM access
access check, write/read all RAM cells
CRC check for FLASH contents
consistence check of application and operating
system stored in nv memory device is unbootable if test fails - red
LED lights constantly; restoration of contents necessary (firmware
update)
Optional Checks
RAM address bus
RAM integrity
H1 channels: send/receive via internal loopback
Interrupt test of H1 controllers
(optional checks selectable via configuration interface additional
checks prolong boot time)
System Information
Device-ID, platform serial number, version information
Base Module: serial number, version
H1 Module: serial number, version
LD software: version, supported HSE spec.
Assignment of IP address
- possible via WWW or terminal program;
- LD 800HSE comes with factory default address
