ASPHALTING
PROCEDURE
Coordination with Asphalt Plant
01• Confirm mix design and quantity: Ensure the hot
mix asphalt (HMA) type, temperature, and required
tonnage are confirmed with the plant.
• Schedule delivery: Coordinate the delivery schedule
to maintain continuous paving.
• Check plant readiness: Ensure that the asphalt plant
has enough production capacity for the day’s
operation.
• Confirm transportation logistics: Ensure dump
trucks are available and scheduled for continuous
supply without delays.

ASPHALTING
PROCEDURE
Work Area Clean Up
02• Remove debris and dust: Clear the road surface of
loose materials, dirt, and vegetation.
• Sweep and blow the surface: Use mechanical
sweepers and air blowers to remove fine dust.
• Check for potholes or cracks: Repair major defects
before asphalting.
• Ensure proper drainage: Clear water channels and
ensure no standing water on the surface.

ASPHALTING
PROCEDURE
Setup of Safety Signages and
03
Traffi c Management
• Install advance warning signs: Place signs at least
100 meters before the work zone.
• Setup cones and barricades: Define the work zone
and ensure a clear separation from live traffic.
• Assign flagmen: Deploy trained flaggers to guide
vehicles.
• Implement detour plans if needed: Coordinate with
local authorities for road closures and alternate
routes.

ASPHALTING
PROCEDURE
Spraying of SS1 (Tack Coat
04
Application)
• Check SS1 emulsion temperature: Ensure it is within
the recommended range (usually 50-70°C).
• Set sprayer nozzles and pressure: Ensure uniform
coverage at the specified rate (typically 0.25-0.70
L/m²).
• Start spraying from one end to another: Apply an
even coat across the entire surface.
• Allow curing time: Wait for the tack coat to become
tacky before placing asphalt (usually 30-60
minutes).
