Animal Cell
CELL
PRESENTED BY: GROUP 3
Animal Cell
●An animal cell is a type of eukaryotic
cell that is the basic structural and
functional unit of animal organisms. It
contains various membrane-bound
organelles and cytoplasm, enclosed by
a plasma membrane.
CELL MEMBRANE
● The outer boundary
of the cell that
controls the
exchange of
substances between
the cell and its
environment.
NUCLEUS
● The gel-like
substance that fills
the cell and
contains various
organelles and
cellular structures.
MITOCHONDRIA
● Structures
involved in
cellular
respiration,
producing
energy (ATP) for
the cell's
metabolic
processes.
NDOPLASMIC RETICULUM
● A network of
membranes
involved in
protein and lipid
synthesis, as
well as
detoxification of
drugs and
toxins.
GOLGI APPARATUS
● Involved in
modifying,
packaging, and
sorting proteins
for transport
and secretion.
RIBOSOMES
●Responsible
for protein
synthesis
within the
cell.
LYSOSOMES
● Membrane-bound
organelles that
contain digestive
enzymes to break
down waste
materials and
foreign substances.
PEROXISOMES
● Organelles
involved in
detoxifying
harmful
substances,
particularly
hydrogen
peroxide
VACUOLES
● Membrane-
bound sacs that
store water,
nutrients, and
waste products.
CYTOSKELETON
● A network of
protein filaments
that provides
structural support
and facilitates cell
movement and
shape.
CENTRIOLES
● paired barrel-
shaped
organelles
located in the
cytoplasm of
animal cells near
the nuclear
envelope.
CILIA AND FLAGELLA
● Microscopic hair-
like structures that
aid in cell
movement and
sensory functions.
CELL JUNCTIONS
● Specialized
structures that
connect animal cells
together, providing
strength and
facilitating
communication
between cells.
Animal Cell shape
● Animal cells are typically round, although
their specific shape can vary depending on
the type of cell and its function. Some animal
cells are more elongated and cylindrical in
shape, while others may be more irregular or
flat.
