JOB OPPORTUNITY PROGRAMME SPECIALIST JOINT PROGRAMME ON ENVIRONMENT UNDP Tanzania is seeking to employ a Programme Specialist for its

Joint Programme (JP) on Environment. The incumbent will basically be responsible for coordination and facilitation of the planning process, efficient financial management and overall reporting of the Joint Programme on Environment to achieve Delivering as One (DaO) and programme objectives. S/he will work under the overall guidance of the UNDP Deputy Country Director, and the direct supervision of the Team Leader of Energy and Environment Unit. Some of the specific duties and responsibilities: Provide support to national partners in programme planning and management, ensure that programme Annual Work Plan is results-oriented and establish clear indicators and full transparency and clarity on the allocation and use of funds, Monitor the financial management of the JP and promote the accountability and adherence to agreed guidelines by all partners, monitoring the overall progress of implementation of project activities together with leading implementing partner. Provide technical support to the design and implementation of activities to ensure the attainment of the Joint Programme objectives and results, assist national partners in the provision of specific technical expertise, assist the VPO in coordinating Technical Assistance under the programme as needed, support the VPO in the monitoring of results and planning of capacity reinforcement measures amount the partners. Provide support or coordinate assistance to the Lead Implementing Partner (VPO) to enable strong national coordination of the national implementation of activities in the Joint Programme. Organize One UN Team Meetings, assist in documenting lesson learnt and best practices and sharing information with partners with respect to the management of the Joint Programme. Academic Qualifications, Experience and Skills: A Masters Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Natural Resources, Economics, Geography, Agriculture, or related Sciences. At least 5-7 years of relevant work experience preferably in programme or project management or financial management in the public, multilateral, bilateral agencies or private sector, experience working with Government and/or development partners, broad knowledge and experience in environmental management, climate change issues, adaptation and the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) is an advantage. Strong Project Management background, familiarity with international context and specifically with UN business processes and practices. Experience with Government/national implementation systems is a distinct advantage. Proficiency in current office software applications, and Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Kiswahili. Type of Contract: Service Contract. Duration: One year initially. Salary Level: SB 5 Quartile 3
