A. formulate way in how to avoid unintentional injuries.
B. Identify the common unintentional injuries.
C. Demonstrate proper first aid procedures for common unintentional injuries.

A. Motivation
Before we start with our discussion let us
have a short activity, this will help us know
how knowledgeable you are on giving first
aid.
I will show you pictures of injury then tell
me what kind of injury it is and what are
the immidiate action that must be done.

middle of the road?
Sir secure the victim, immobilized the
victim into safer area before applying
first aid

o You are bleeding due to a big


wound on the forehead?
Sir stop the bleeding.

o Somebody fell from the tree and


was unconscious?
Sir give a glass of water or check vital
signs and possible fracture.

o A person had an amputated arms.


Sir stop the bleeding and call for
medical help.

o You accidentally touch a hot iron


and burn your fingers
Sir pour cold water.

Very good it can actually happen anywhere and
everywhere.

What are the contributing factors on the


occurrence of injury?
Correct, there are two kinds of injury,
intentional and unintentional.
What is intentional injuries?

Sir lack of safety precaution, carelessness,


accident.

How about unintentional?


What are the common unintentional injuries?
Very good, fracture is a break or crack in the
bone, open fracture is pierces the skin surface
while close fracture has noo break on the skin.

What usually causes fracture?

Very good, another common unintentional


injury in the bone.
What is dislocation?
Correct, applying first aid procedures on
fractures and dislocation have similarities
though they are two different kind of injuries I
will show you on how to apply first aid on
fractures and dislocation. Listen and observe
attentively because I will asked question later

Sir a severeblow or hit on the body that causes


the bone to break or crack.
Sir it is a partial or complete displacement of
the bone.

First let us discuss sprain ,
What is sprain?
Correct, how about strain?
Good, sprain and strain are very common to
athletes,

Sir an injury to the ligaments of the bone due to


accidental tearing or over stretching.
Sir it is an injury to the muscle which is a result
of improper use of muscle.

Do you know what is the acronym on first aid


procedure in sprain and strain? I will give extra
points to those who can answer.

Ok, good now before we proceed to our


activity, let us first identify the cause of some
fatal injuries that your group will present.

Now lets divide the class into 3 groups, count
off 1 to 3 starting from this side

Here is what you are going to do
Each group will be assigned a specific topic to
demonstrate, you can do role play, and you
have to show how first aid is applied on a
specific injury assigned to you.
The following are the rules to be observed
while there is a demonstration going on.
1) Each group is given 5 min to practice
and 2 min. to perform your topic.
2) Each group is expected to be quiet to
listen and observe while demonstration
is going on.

Group 3- burns
