A. ACTIVITY:

Fake News Vs. Fact News


The teacher will flash on the screen some pictures, headlines and memes. The students will
determine whether the picture/meme/headline is a fact news or a fake news. The students will click
the icon “Fact” if the picture/meme/headline is true, if false, the “fake” icon will be clicked.

B. Analysis:
The teacher will ask questions that will lead to the topic.
1. Where did the news come from?/What were the sources of the information?
2. How did you know that the news/information were true?
3. What were your bases to verify the information?

C. Abstraction
Have the students watch a video clip about media and information sources.
Then the teacher will discuss the following:
1. different sources of information
- Indigenous
- Library
- Internet
2. Evaluating information sources
- Reliability of Information
- Accuracy of information
- Value of the information
- Authority of the Source
- Timeliness
D. Application:
(Group the students with 3 members.)
Ask the students to identify 3 controversial issues in the Philippines, and their sources. Then,
evaluate the quality of the information. Ask them to present their output in any way they want.
(They may present their output thru a vlog, using computer software like Powtoon,
newscasting, etc.)

V. Generalization
Ask: Where do you usually get/acquire information from? How do you evaluate the quality of
the information?
V.Assignment:
Using the internet, kindly search 5 fake news and their fact check
