INTRODUCTION
The Philippines is ranked 48 th among the 212 nations around the world in terms
of the percentage of carbon emission in the transportation sector. In fact, 65% of
pollution in the air comes from the harmful substance coming from vehicle emissions.
(INSERT CITATION) Smoke belching results to high emission of carbon dioxide in the
atmosphere together with other toxic chemicals. These substances are a major
contributor of pollution in the air. In fact, the tiny particles present in these chemical and
other pollutants in vehicle exhaust contribute to respiratory problems and to cancer risk.
Everyone can be affected, especially the health of the children, the elderly and those
with respiratory diseases are especially at risk.
This project offers a movement that could deviate the level of toxic chemicals
present in our atmosphere to issue the importance of a clean air. Every citizen in our
nation deserves to live in a toxic free environment. Together with different
environmental institution and our local government smoke belching could be stop.
We are hoping for the considerate support of different environmental institution
and our local government together with different private sectors which could offer a help
in mitigating the problem of air pollution present in our localities.

II. RATIONALE
The 8th Annual Clean Air forum of the Department of Environment and Natural
Resources (DENR) last 2016 pointed to vehicle emission as the main factor that
contributes 69% to the country’s air pollution and said that current rate of air pollution
has declined by approximately 20%. Almost 6000 vehicles have been added to the road
since 2012. Pollution worsens as the numbers of vehicles increases as said by Rene
Pineda, Partnership for Clean Air president.
According to the article written by UNTV News, “Vehicles are the top contributor
to air pollution in the Philippines – DENR “, last June 14th, 2016, smoke emission of car
is the main cause of air pollution in the Philippines. The population in the Philippines
increases, causing road congestions which means that the number of vehicles are also
increasing. These are some of the factors why air pollution still remains.
Air pollution can affect many aspects such as health and environmental.
accumulates in the air in high enough concentrations. People exposed to high enough
levels of certain air pollutants may experience: Irritation of the eyes, nose, and throat,
lung and heart problems, such as asthma, increased risk of heart attack. Air pollution
can also affect the environment and may cause acid rain, haze, ozone depletion, crop
and forest damage, global climate change, and it can also harm the wildlife.
This project will provide information about this problem in our society, which is air
pollution. This will give knowledge to citizens, with or without vehicle, about the negative
effects of the smoke emission of cars in our environment and personal health.
