Review Module: - Analytic Geometry

The document provides a review module on analytic geometry concepts including: 1) Distance between two points and dividing a line segment into ratios. 2) Finding the area of polygons given vertex coordinates. 3) Finding equations of lines based on passing through points or being parallel/perpendicular to other lines. 4) Calculating distance from a point to a line and between two lines. 5) Determining the locus or path of points meeting certain distance or area conditions.

Review Module – Analytic Geometry

DISTANCE BETWEEN TWO POINTS AND DIVISION OF LINE

SEGMENT
1. The co-ordinates of points on the x-axis which are at a distance
of 5 units from the point (6, -3)
2. Find the missing value of h in the points (5, 7) and (1, h) if its
midpoint is at (3, –2).
3. If A and B be the points (1, 5) and (- 4, 7), then find the point P
which divides AB internally in the ratio 2:3.
4. The segment (-2, 7) to (3, -5) is extended twice its own length.
Find the terminal point.

AREA OF POLYGON
1. Find the area of the polygon given the coordinates of its
vertices to be
(-2, -2), (0, 4), (3, -1), (1, -1)

EQUATION OF A LINE

1. Find the equation of a line that passes through (1, -6) and (2,
5).
2. Given a triangle whose vertices are A(1,2), B(3,4), C(8,-1), find
the equation of a line connecting vertex A and its centroid.
3. Find the equation of the line that passes through (4, 2) and is
a. Parallel to 3x – 4y = 7
b. Perpendicular to 2x + 6y = 9

DISTANCE FROM A POINT TO A LINE AND BETWEEN TWO LINES

1. Find the minimum distance between the point (−2,−4) and the
line f(x) = −13x + 2
2. Find the distance between x + 4y = -6 and 2x + 8y = 22

LOCUS OF POINTS
Find the equation of the locus of the following conditions:
1. Equidistant from (3, 5) and (1, 2)
2. Equidistant from the line y = 5 and (0, 0)
3. Find the locus of a moving point which forms a triangle of area
21 square units with the point (2, -7) and (-4, 3).
