(Steering Gear) TM-60 Check Procedure

This document provides procedures for checking the mechanical and electrical operations of a TM-60 control motor unit. The mechanical check involves manually moving the servo control lever and verifying its smooth movement and self-return to neutral. The electrical check involves powering on the system in different steering modes and verifying that voltage readings at external terminals fall within specified ranges when operating the control motor lever. Diagrams are included labeling relevant parts and wiring.

CONTROL MOTOR UNIT(TM-60) CHECK PROCEDURE 470S-10-A027

May 27, 2010 TOKYO KEIKI INC.

1 Mechanical operation check (Refer to Fig. 1 for each parts name.)
1) Check condition Steering Gear; Running
SGCS(Steering Gear Control System)/PILOT; Power OFF
2) Hold and swing the MECHANICAL LEVER which is linked to the SERVO CONTROL LEVER to PORT
and STBD directions by hand.
3) Confirm the smooth movement of the SERVO CONTROL LEVER and the self-return to the neutral

position when the LEVER is released.

2 Electrical operation check (Refer to Fig. 2 for the TM-60 wiring diagram.)
1) Check condition Steering Gear; Running
SGCS(Steering Gear Control System)/PILOT; Power ON
2) Switch SGCS to the NFU(Non Follow Up) mode and steer to PORT and STBD directions by a NFU
lever or switches.
3) Confirm the TM-60 CONTROL MOTOR LEVER moves smoothly and the voltage between TM1-TM2
of the TM-60 external terminals is in the range from 0 to ±24V DC.
4) Switch SGCS to the manual steering mode(Follow Up).
5) Confirm the voltage between LN1-LN2 of the TM-60 external terminals is in the range from 7.5V to
8.3V AC400Hz.
6) Confirm the voltage between LN3-LN4 of TM-60 external terminals is minimum value (40mV AC400Hz
or less) when the SERVO CONTROL LEVER is located at the neutral (zero) position.
7) Steer to PORT and STBD directions at the manual steering mode(Follow Up) by a steering wheel.
8) Confirm the TM-60 CONTROL MOTOR LEVER moves smoothly and the voltage between TM1-TM2
of the TM-60 external terminals is in the range from 0 to ±24V DC.
9) Confirm the voltage between LN3-LN4 of the TM-60 external terminals is in the range from 0 to
3.2V AC400Hz(0.16V AC/deg.) when the TM-60 CONTROL MOTOR LEVER moves from the neutral
(zero) position to PORT or STBD ends.

TM-60 ← → SGCS

← ±0~24V DC

← 7.5~8.3V AC400Hz

→ 0~3.2V AC400Hz(0.16V AC/deg.)

[Note 1] The buffer amplifier was not installed in the ship that were built between 1984 and 1993. The
buffer amplifier was detached in case the ship had excessive vibration. The figure below shows
the wiring diagram for those ships.
