In todays' competitive and fast-paced era time is more valuable than money. One should keep in

mind that money lost can be re-earned, but if time is lost, it can never be regained. However, the

sad truth is that everyone has got only a fixed 24 hours in the day, and they have to manage

multiple chores in that stipulated time only. Also, People often complain about limited period of

time they possess, however, it is not the limited time at their disposal that is a true problem, but

the way people mis-utilize this time creates problem . From this constraint of limited time only

only, one can understand the importance of effective management skills strategies such as

avoiding procrastination , self-regulation and avoiding multitasking . These strategies may help

people in improving their concentration level and productivity level , leads to improved health

and quality of life, improved performance at the workplace and so on.

The first and foremost strategy which can be used effectively in managing time is to .avoid

Multi-tasking. This would help them to concentrate concentrating better on a specified or a

particular task at one point of time and would improve their productivity too. Many people have

this misconception in their mind that multitasking saves time, however, this is not the reality. .

According to Meyer (2010), when a person gets themselves engaged in multiple tasking conflicts

tend to take place between the tasks because human mind is not designed in such a way that it It

can simultaneously address two different actions at the same time. Next, switching from one task

to another results in a wastage of time and a low level of productivity. Apart from this, doing

multitasks at the same time may lower concentration level and the person may fail miserably in
performing both the task altogether. Therefore it is suggested that one should do one particular

task at a time and avoid multitasking.

Another strategy of effective time management is to avoid Procrastinating. Avoiding

procrastination strategy will result in having sufficient amount of energy at the later part of the

days as well completing most important task at the priority level There are a variety of reasons

which may force people to put off tasks for a while especially the tasks which are unpleasant or

which take a lot of time. Most people are drained out of energy before mid-day.Not setting a

proper plan in advance for one's whole days or without prioritizing the important tasks in

advance leads to a low level of energy before noon. However many studies have suggested that

one should do the most important tasks as the first things in the morning and less important tasks

should be left for the later part of the day.

Next, effective time management such as self-regulation f time may leads to great physical and

leads to an increase in downtime. In today’s competitive era many students fail to strike a

perfect balance between their studies and their external lives ,which results in misutilisation of

time ,disturbed sleep patterns, and high levels of stress (Hardy, 2003).However, the art of

maintaining a perfect balance between all day-to-day activities such as sleep, exercise, and well-

balanced diet results in great physical health which simply means that there is a direct

relationship between time management physical health O’Connell (2014).  Many studies have

found that students who have the skills of self –regulating their own time are better at

maintaining work–life balance; a lower level of stress than their counterparts For Macan,

Shahani, Dipboye, and Phillips (1990),.

In conclusion, it can be argued that there are endless time management strategies that can be

used effectively such as avoiding procrastination, self-regulation avoiding multitasking, and

soon, however before adopting a strategy one has to evaluate what works best for them. Though ,

At the end of the days, every strategy aims at maintaining a healthy balance between work and

personal life, assisting one in accomplishing their important as well as less important tasks,

increasing their idle time, greater academic as well as non –academic performance and more

satisfying lives.
