9 Manual Operation

This section is mainly used by service technicians to adjust the system components and
to check their operations. Please note that the frequency of the raising and lowering of
the syringe is not counted during manual operation.

Touching [Manual Operation] on the [Menu Map] opens the manual operations screen.
The following screen is shown in manual operation mode. The manual operation screens
consist of the selection (sample dispensing, reagent dispensing and others) area in the
central-upper screen, and four tabs at the top right.

Unchecking the [Motor ON] checkmarks in each category will turn off the

power of the corresponding motor, allowing you to move the mechanism
manually (with the exception of pumps and valves). Note: However, that
no operation is possible during emergency stop.

Common Command Buttons: (common to all manual
operation screens):
close
Close: Terminates manual operation and resets the
equipment.
RESET
The [Menu Map] screen appears after resetting the
E-STOP equipment.
RESET: Resets all driving parts (including motors).
ABORT
Emergency Stop: Stops all operations.
ABORT: Stops the current operation (only for continuous operation).

Warning

 Selecting all of the operations will cause them to operate simultaneously. Be careful
not to injure yourself, particularly when the probe is moving.
 The edges of the [Close] button will appear red when performing an operation. The
next operation cannot be performed when the edges are red. When the edges are
yellow, the next operation is available to be performed.
 Touching [Close] will reset the equipment.

9.1 Manual Operation
9.1.1 Sample Dispensing

You can specify the movement of the sample


probe, sample probe rinse water, sample table,
and S-syringe.
You can reset the entire category using the
[RESET] button shown at the upper right of the
screen.
Touch [Close] to terminate operation.

Selecting all of the operations will cause them to operate


Caution simultaneously. Be careful to avoid injury, particularly when the
probe is moving.

9.1.1.1 Sample Probe
Use this to check sample probe operation and adjust its position.
 The up/down and rotation drives for sample probe operation can be activated or
reset.
 Pressing the downward triangle (▼) at the right will display a sub window where you
can select the stop position.
 There are two [RESET] buttons corresponding to up/down and rotation, respectively.
 You can turn off the motor for each drive component by unchecking [Motor ON] and
moving the mechanism manually.
 The original rotation position of the sample probe can be set in excitation patterns
(only possible in service mode).

Make sure that the arm is located at the up most position when

9.1.1.2 S-Syringe
Use this to check sample syringe operation.
 You can turn on/off the power of the sample syringe motor.
 The [RESET] button resets the sample syringe motor.
 Touching [Up/Down] once lowers the plunger, and touching it again raises it.

9.1.1.3 Rinse Water


Use this to put water into the flow path in the sample probe.
 Touching [Refill] will add rinse water into the flow path in
the sample probe for a certain period of time.
 To operate the washing pump independently, touch
[Start].
 Checking [Open Valve] will open the valve to discharge
rinse water (the sample probe position must be set to the
drain position to check [Open Valve]).

9.1.1.4 Table
Use this to operate the sample table (when adjusting the cup and barcode reading
positions).
 You can turn on/off the excitation of the sample table motor.
 You can select the rack, sample and rotation positions to move the table to any given
position. Pressing the downward triangle (▼) at each field will display a sub window
where you can select the position.
 Operation starts once conditions are set to all fields (rack, sample and rotation
positions).
 Touching the [RESET] button resets the sample table motor.

9.1.2 Reagent Dispensing
Use to specify operation of the
reagent probe, reagent table
rotation, shutter, heated water,
rinse water (probe 1/2), and R-
syringe.
You can reset all categories
displayed by using the [RESET]
button located below [Others].
Touch [Close] to terminate
operation.

Selecting all of the operations will cause them to operate

9.1.2.1 Reagent Probe


Use this to check reagent probe operation and adjust its
position.
 The up/down, rotational, and reset specifications can be
set for the reagent probe.
 Pressing the downward triangle (▼) at the right will
display a sub window where you can select the stop
position. You can choose from port numbers from port
number 1 to 20 when selecting [Measuring Part 1] or
[Measuring Part 2] in [Rotate].
 You can reset up/down and rotation positions.
 Manually move each motor by unchecking [Motor ON].
 The original rotation position of the reagent probe can be set in excitation patterns
(only possible in service mode).

Make sure that the arm is located at the up most position when

9.1.2.2 Shutter
Use this to check whether the splash guard shutter above the coagulation port is open or
closed.
 Touch [Open] to open the shutter.
 Touching the [RESET] button resets the shutter.
 Unchecking [Motor ON] turns off motor power and
allows the mechanism to be moved manually.

9.1.2.3 Table Rotation


Use this to check reagent table operation and adjust
its rotation position.
 You can specify the reagent and rotation
positions of the reagent table and rotate it to a
given position. Pressing the downward triangle
(▼) will display a sub window where you can
specify the position.
 Touch [Start] to rotate the reagent mixer motor.
 The [RESET] button resets the table rotation settings.
 Unchecking [Motor ON] turns off motor power and allows the mechanism to be
moved manually.

9.1.2.4 Heated Water
Use this to put water into the flow path for heated water.
 Touch [Supply] to supply water into the flow path and
touch it again to stop supplying.
 Touch [Waste] to drain water from the flow path and
touch it again to stop draining water.
 Touch [Pump] to stop the heated water pump (the pump
is normally on operation, with the button highlighted in
blue).
 Switch the flow path by checking [Valve (in)] and [Valve
(out)].

9.1.2.5 R-Syringe
Use this to check reagent syringe operation.
 Excitation for the reagent syringe motor can be set to
Motor ON/OFF.
 The [RESET] button resets the reagent syringe motor.
 Touching [Up/Down] once lowers the syringe, and
touching it again raises it.

9.1.2.6 Rinse Water
Use this to put water into the flow path in the
reagent probe.
 Touch [Probe 1] or [Probe 2] to put rinse water
into the flow path in the reagent probe 1/2 for
a certain period of time (cannot operate both
simultaneously).
 Touch [Start] on the [Rinsing Pump] to operate
the washing pump independently.
 You can switch between the [Line 1] (probe 1) and [Line 2] (probe 2) of the valve/Liq.

 Checking [Valve] will open the valve to discharge rinse water (the reagent probe
position must be set to the drain position to check [Valve ON]).

9.1.3 Others
Use to specify operations
related to the cuvette arm
(cuvette supply, cuvette
aligner (C-scoop), reaction
solution mixing and cuvette
disposal), light-source
lamp filter position,
coagulation LED lighting
and internal barcode LED
lighting.
Touch [Close] to terminate
operation.

9.1.3.1 Cuvette Arm
This screen is used to operate the cuvette arm,
which is located inside the photometry area.
 The cuvette arm's up/down motion and
rotation operations can be specified and
reset. Pressing the downward triangle (▼) at
the right will display a sub window where you
can select the stop position.
 There are two [RESET] buttons
corresponding to up/down and rotation. Under
[Rotate], choosing measuring port or a
position in front of the measuring port will
allow you to select from port numbers 1-20.
 You can turn off the motor for each drive motor by unchecking [Motor ON] and
moving the arm manually.
 The original rotation position of the sample probe can be set in excitation patterns
(only possible in service mode).
 When adjusting the position of the mixing port, you can set the cuvette ejection
position in the mixing port (only possible in service mode).

9.1.3.2 Supplying Cuvettes
Use this to supply cuvettes.
 Cuvettes are supplied from the slide
to the cuvette arm. Pressing the
downward triangle (▼) at the right will
display a sub window where you can
select operation.
 Touching the [RESET] button will return the cuvette slide/arm to their home positions
after performing the discarding operation.
 You can turn off power for the drive motor driving part's motor by unchecking [Motor
ON].

9.1.3.3 Cuvette Aligner (stores and supplies cuvettes located at the left of the
instrument) or C-Scoop
This part of the equipment aligns the cuvettes
located in the cuvette storage and sends them to the
slide.
 Touching [RESET] will rotate the tumbler rotor
plate; cuvettes can then be fed from storage to
the slide (tumbler will continue rotating until the
cuvette sensor detects a cuvette).
 You can turn off the power for the drive motor by unchecking [Motor ON].

9.1.3.4 LED ON/OFF, Barcode


You can manually turn the coagulation port LED (photometric measuring ports 1-14) and
the internal barcode reader on and off.
 Touch each button to verify they are illuminated.

9.1.3.5 Photo Filter
Use this to specify the position of the optical lamp filter.
 You can specify the position of the filter
(wavelength) and perform rotation.
 Touching the [RESET] button will reset the filter and
it will return to its home position after rotation.
 You can turn off the filter motor's excitation by
unchecking [Motor ON].

9.1.3.6 Mix (Cuvette) Motor


Use this to mix solutions contained in cuvettes in the mixing port located in the
photometry area.
 Touch [Start] to mix cuvettes for the specified
period of time.
 Mixing time (sec) can be specified by changing the
value in the time column (Mixing time is enabled
only during testing).

9.1.3.7 Specified Operation
Use this to discard cuvettes or adjust the aspiration
position of diluted samples.
 Touching [Start] for cuvette discarding operation
will cause the cuvette arm to access all photometric
measuring ports and mixing ports to discard
cuvettes.
 Touching [Start] for the aspiration position of diluted samples will cause the cuvette
catcher to grab cuvettes and move to the diluted sample aspiration position. After the
sample probe moves to the same position, it lowers to the aspiration position and
stops there.

9.2 Sensor Check

9.2.1 Sensor Check


Press [Sensor] on the right side of the
[Manual Operation] screen to go into
sensor check mode.
You can check the port input signals,
liquid sensor level, photometric port
output and temperature of the equipment.
You can also touch [Print] to print the
screen.
Touch [Close] to terminate operation.

9.2.1.1 Port Input


Use to check the ON/OFF status of the sensor.

9.2.1.2 Liquid Level Sensor


Displays the current fluid level sensor values for the sample/reagent probes
 The values shown in lines 1 or 2 for each
reagent probe indicate if the probe tip has
detected the surface of the liquid refer to
"9.1.2.6 Rinse Water".
(In this example, Line 1 is selected and the
value for Probe 1 is "1.61").

For details about switching the fluid level sensor,


see 9.1.2.6

<Reference Range>
When no fluid level detection is performed: 2.50 or below is shown

9.2.1.4 Photometric Port Output (real-time display)


Use this to check the lamp output of the colorimetric port
by switching filters (wavelengths).
 Touch [Start] to check the A/D value of the wavelength
specified in [Port No.] in real-time.

9.3 Hardware Check
9.3.1 Dispensing Check
Press the [HW Check] tab located
at the right of the [Manual
Operation] screen to display the
[HW Check] screen.
You can perform sample/reagent
dispensing, cuvette discarding
operation, and barcode/rack ID
reading on this screen.
Touch [Close] to terminate
operation.

9.3.1.1 Sample Dispensing
Moves the sample probe to the prescribed position and checks the volume to be
dispensed.

Note: Use the standard cup as the container when


performing this test.
The total of the sample and buffer solution must
be 100μL or less.

 Enter the pipetting (Rack-Nr. and position) in the rack


(A up to F) / vessel (1-10)
 You can set the volume to be dispensed [Sample vol.
(μL)].
 Specify the dispensing position of the buffer solution in
[Buffer Position].
 You can set the volume of the buffer solution in [Buffer vol. (μL)].
 You can specify the number of dispensing operations in [Replicates].
 [Start] commences the dispensing operation.

9.3.1.2 Reagent Dispensing


Moves the reagent probe to a given position and checks the volume to be dispensed.

Note: Prior to operation, set empty cuvettes in proportion


to the number of replicates, beginning with port#1.

 Specify the probe to be checked in [Probe 1] or [Probe 2].


 Specify the position you want to check [Reagent Pos].
 You can set the volume to be dispensed [Reagent vol.
(μL)].
 You can specify the number of dispensing operations in
[Replicates].
 Touching [Start] will start the dispensing operation.

9.3.1.3 Cuvette Operation (Sequential)
Performs a series of operations (taking out cuvettes, setting them to each photometric
measuring port and mixing port, and discarding
them).
 You can specify the cuvette storage location in
[Method]. Specify all ports (all photometric
measuring ports and stirring ports) or a given
port.
 If individual port specification is chosen in [Set To], you can specify the port number.

9.3.1.4 Rack ID
Check if the numbers of racks installed in the sample tables
(A-F) can be identified correctly.
 Touch [Read] to read the IDs.

9.3.1.5 Barcode
Set a blood collection tube with a barcode and check if it can normally be read. Result display
area
 Specify the rack position in [Rack].
 Specify the position of the blood
collection tube with a barcode in
[Cup].
 Touch [Read] to read the blood
collection tube, and the result appears.

9.3.2 Measuring Port Check
You can set whether or not to
use the coagulation port LED
output, colorimetric (light source
lamp) output and photometric
measuring ports.
Touch [Close] to terminate
operation.

9.3.2.1 Ports to Be Used


Use this to specify which ports will be used in
measurement.
 1-14: Coagulation measurement (LED) ports
 15-20: Colorimetric measurement (light source
lamp) ports
 Touching and removing a checkmark from a port
and registering it will make that port inaccessible.

9.3.2.2 Coagulation
Use this to check the output of the coagulation port LED (put the cover on the
photometric area when measuring).
 Enter the number of photometric measuring Gain Average SD
points, switch between the gain high/low Low 650 or below 10 or below
settings, and touch [Start]. High 3200 or below 25 or below

 The average photometric measurement data, SD and CV are shown in [Port No.] in
the table below. The sampling rate for coagulation is set to 0.1 second. If 100 is
specified as the number of photometric measuring points, the photometric measuring
time will be 10 (0.1 sec x 100 points) seconds.
The table at the right shows a rough indication of a case where 100 points are set.
 Touch [Print] to print the measured data.

9.3.2.3 Photometry
Use this to check the optical lamp output of the
colorimetric port (put the cover on the photometric area
when measuring).
 Select 405 as the wavelength and 2 as the number
of measuring points, and then, touch [Start].
 The average photometric measurement data, SD
and CV are shown in [Port No.] in the table below.
Because the colorimetric sampling rate is 10
seconds, the photometric measuring time will be
100 (10 sec x 10 points) seconds.
 Touch the [Voltage] to display the port output
voltage. Abnormal ports (-0.45V or below) are
highlighted in red.

9.3.3 Checking Down Limits


Sets the down limits of the
sample and reagent probes.
The down limit value depends
on each device. Make sure to
set the down limit especially
after replacing probes.

9.3.3.1 Sample Probe Down Limits
Sets the down limits of the sample and reagent probes for each cup type and position.
(Down limit Settings for the Rack Positions)
(1) Check the boxes to the right of the cup types to read their down limits; touching the
rack column will display the rack position input field and [Measure Down Limit] pop-
up.
(2) Enter the rack and sample positions.
(3) Place in the specified location the cup whose
down limit is to be determined. Also confirm that
the top cover, sample cover and reagent cover Down limits/fluid
are closed. levels at the rack
(4) Touch [Read] to move the sample probe to the position

given position and the read value appears in


the [Down Limit] column.
(5) To enter the down limit value, touch the [Down
Limit] column, then the numeric value input field
will pop up.
(6) Touching [Clear] on the [Read Down Limit]
window will clear the checkmarks.

 To adjust each cup for the diluted solution ports 1/2/3, detergent port and STAT port,
also place the cup and tube at the specified positions before reading the down limits.
 When reading the down limits of the cuvette ejection and cuvette aspiration positions,
cuvettes are automatically moved to given positions before reading the bottom limits.
 You can display hidden cup types by touching the scroll key in the [Down Limit]
column for the sample probe.

9.3.3.2 Reagent Probe Down Limits
Sets the down limits for each position of the reagent probe.
 Check the boxes to the right of the cup types to read
their down limits; touching the reagent position field will
display the reagent position input field.
 Place the bottle whose down limit is to be determined in
the specified location. Also confirm that the top cover,
sample cover and reagent cover are closed.
 Touch [Read] to move the reagent probe to the given
position and the read value appears in the [Down Limit]
column.
 To manually enter the down limit value, touch the
[bottom limit], position to display the numeric value input
field.
 Touching [Clear] on the [Read Down Limit] window will
clear the checkmarks.
