Answer Key

Adding Integers

1. 9 – 31 or 9 + ( -31 ) = -22 degrees

2. -40 – 57 or -40 + ( -57 ) = -97
The submarine is 97 ft. below sea level
3. 25 – 40 + 10 or 15 + ( -40 ) + 10
25 + 10 + ( -40 )
35 -40 or 35 + ( -40) = -5
Jane lost 5 points.
4. -35 – 60 + 75 or -35 + ( -60 ) + 75
-95 + 75 = -20
Tina has $20 less in her account.
5. 2 – 5 – 1 + 4 – 6
2+4–5–1–6
6 – 12 or 6 + ( -12 ) = -6
The stock lost 6 points.

Subtracting Integers

1. 6 – ( -3 )
6 + ( 3 ) = 9 degrees
2. -2 – ( 5 )
-2 + ( - 5 ) = -7
The temperature decreased 7 degrees.
3. -5 – ( -12 )
-5 + ( 12 ) = 7 feet

4. 11 – ( -15 )

11 + ( 15 ) = 26

New York is 26 degrees warmer.

Multiplying Integers

1. -6 ( 3 ) = -18
2. -3 ( 5 ) = -15
The temperature dropped 15 degrees.
3. -4 ( 5 ) = -20
The team lost 20 yds.
4. -125 + 3( -50 )
-125 – 150 or -125 + ( -150) = -275
The submarine is 275 feet below sea level.
5. 3( -25 ) = -75
There is $75 less in the account.
Dividing Integers

1. -24/4 = -6
Each investor lost 6%
2. -760/4 = -190
The temperture dropped 190 degrees per hour.
