Welcome to Vaikunta Baliga College of Law
Our Law College is one among the 42 reputed Educational Institutions
sponsored by the Academy of General Education, Manipal. It was founded by
Late Dr.T.M.A.Pai, a great pioneer in the field of Education, Banking and
Industry. It is now a unit of Dr.T.M.A.Pai Foundation, Manipal.
The college was established in the year 1957 and was named after Late
Sri.B.Vaikunta Baliga, the then Minister of law, Government of Mysore. Ever
since its inception, the College has rendered yeomen service in the field of legal
education of high standard and more than 6650 students have so far obtained
their degree in law from this institution. The excellent coaching and the
disciplined atmosphere of the college have been attracting a large number of
students from the neighbouring States of Kerala, Tamilnadu, Andhra Pradesh
and Internationally from country like Nigeria.
MANAGEMENT:
The College is administered by its Governing Council under the able
chairmanship of Sri T.Ashok Pai.
AFFILIATION:
Having been in existence for the past 64 years this college is one of
the oldest Law colleges in Karnataka. It is permanently
recognized by Bar Council of India and Karnataka State Law
University Huballi. It is also recognized under 12 B
and 2F of U.G.C. Act with NAAC
accreditation with B+ grade.

Our founder, Dr. T M A Pai took on several roles like doctor, educationalist, and philanthropist, challenged the economic and
social barriers to bring about a change in the Indian banking sector, and the society as a result. Apart from improving the economic
status of Udupi, a quaint city in Karnataka, his dream was to develop the city an educational hub. Our college is one among the 42
reputed educational institutions run by the Dr. T M A Pai Foundation, Manipal. We at the Vikunta Baliga College of Law believe,
by its motto ‘Satyameva Jayathe Nanrutham’ which means Truth and Righteousness will always triumph, and not the untruth. The
college imparts legal education with a mission to transform a student into a truthful righteous human being.
In pursuit of our vision, along with the curriculum, value added courses in Cyberlaw, Law and Medicine, and Tax Law are also
provided. The College has been organizing National Moot Court Competition since 2015 where participation were seen from all
parts of the country.
