food to PW & LW. Nutri basket consist of ; Dates, Raisins, Dried
Pillar 4: Take Home Ration Amla Flattened rice (avalakki) Multi grain flour.
• “Pushti –Plus” a Nutri-mix powder with micronutrients &
& Diet enhanced calories & proteins for children with SAM & MAM for
age 6 Months to 6 Years.
• “Pushti” – For all children of age 6 Months to 3 Years.

Role of Anganwadi Teachers

• Sensitization of out – of school adolescents girls at AWC


• Mobilization of the target beneficiaries to nearby T3 camps for blood test
• Preparation of detailed report with details of anemic beneficiaries
• Household visits to sensitize the family members of beneficiaries about prevention
and treatment of anemia
• Distribution and ensure consumption of IFA & De-worming tablets
• Sensitization of preganant women and adolescent girls about the side effects
and myths of IFA consumption
Role of Self-Help Group and Grama Panchayat /
UDD
• Discussion in their SHG group meetings about:

 Anemia- causes & consequences

 Trivarna Thatte (Tiranga Thali) to focus on diet diversity and locally

available foods

 Side effects and myths about consumption of IFA tablets

• Build capacity of “SHG Members” to create awareness about dietary prevention of

anemia.
Role of School Teachers
• Sensitization of 6-18 years children about prevention and treatment of anemia
during
 Special assembly in schools
 Elocution / Quiz/ Essay writing competitions
 Video screening and discussions at individual class level
 Edutainment audio stories at class level
 IEC display and dissemination
• Facilitate T3 camp in school by mobilization of students
• Ensuring distribution and compliance of IFA & De-worming tablets in school
• Create awareness about dietary prevention of anemia
Pillar 1: Mass Screening of individuals
Adolescents (16-18 years)
Department: Department of Pre University Board

Anemia screening done by: RBSK teams

Support required:
• Sensitize all the PU college Principals and Staff about the mass screening activity and its importance
• Line list (class wise) of all the students, prepared before the day of screening
• Ensure 100% attendance on the day of screening
• Information and request consent of parents
Pillar 1: Mass Screening of individuals
School children (6-15 years)
Department: Department of Education (PI)

Anemia screening done by: CHO / RBSK

Support required:
• Sensitize all the school principals and teacher about the mass screening activity
• Line list (class wise) of all the students, prepared before the day of screening
• Ensure 100% attendance on the day of screening
• Information and request consent of parents

Children (6 months -6 years)
Department: Department of Women & Child Development (WCD)

Support required:
• All children 0-5 years should be brought to AWCs for anemia screening
• Create awareness in the community about the mass screening activity
