PUC Salt Analysis Chart-2020

The document describes a series of tests to identify an unknown salt sample. Various tests are performed to detect the anions and cations present in the salt. Carbonate, chloride, bromide, nitrate and sulfate anions could be identified through reactions with acids and formation of precipitates. Positive results indicated the presence of calcium, magnesium, ammonium, strontium or barium cations. The overall procedure allows systematic determination of the complete formula of the unknown salt through detection of its constituent ions.
