Physical health is defined as
the condition of your body,

disease to fitness level.
Physical health is critical for
overall well-being and can be
affected by:

Emotional Development
Emotional health is an important part of overall health.
Emotionally healthy people are in control of their thoughts,
feelings, and behaviors. They can cope with life's challenges.
Emotions are responses that generate biochemical reactions in
our bodies, changing the physical state.

Social Development
Social Development refers to how people develop social and
emotional skills across the lifespan, with particular attention to
childhood and adolescence.

As a person develop and perceive its individuality within a


community, he/she also gains skills to communicate with other
people and process his/her actions.

Social development most often refers to how a person


develops friendships and other relationships and how a person
handles conflict with peers.

Cognitive Development
Cognitive development means how people think, explore, and
figure things out. It is the development of knowledge, skills,
problem-solving, and dispositions, which helps a person to
think about and understand the world around them.

Mental abilities are developed by engaging in intellectual


pursuits such as studies, work, and figuring out how best to
deal with challenges-thinking, planning, organizing, evaluating,
and maximizing cognitive abilities.

Spiritual Development
Spiritual development is defined as discovering oneself
beyond the ego known as the soul, spirit, or the "inner essence"
that is often disregarded or taken for granted (Llaneza-Ramos,
2017).

Spiritual growth and development help us to imbibe humility. It


helps us to develop great strength and courage. Spiritual
growth and development help to make human beings better
citizens.

Lesson 2: Thoughts, Feelings, and
Behaviors for Holistic Development

At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
oDefine thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in their own
words;
oShare personal experience showing the connections of
thoughts, feelings, and behaviors;
oPerform a 2-minute pantomime exemplifying the
connections of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in real-
life setting.

Scenario 1

You recieve a compliment from a friend about your


cooking skills, and you think, “I must be pretty good at this.”

This thought elicits feelings of pride and satisfaction.

As a result, you feel motivated to experiment with


new recipes and share your culinary creations with others,
leading to further positive feedback and reinforcement of
your belief in your cooking skills.

Scenario 2

You encounter a heavy traffic on your way to an


important appointment, and you think, “This always happens
to me, I have the worst luck.”

This thought evokes feelings of frustration and


helplessness.

You react by honking your horn, cursing at other


drivers, and feeling stressed and agitated, which further
exacerbates the negative experience of being stuck in
traffick.

Group yourselves into five. Each group will do a pantomime
of the assigned scenario, showcasing the connections of
thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Then, the other group will
guess what the pantomime is all about.
