Rules
Students choose the topic that you are interested in and type your name in the field “Students’
Name”.
There are TWO students maximum on a topic. Students can leave any topic unselected.
Student(s) in each topic work as a group and produce ONE report only.
Student is not allowed to change the selection of another student [student can change his(her)
selection himself(herself) only]. Otherwise, student who do action will be assigned zero point.
Student(s) must submit the report via Fill form in MS Teams Classroom no later than
27/04/2024- 23:59:59 (GMT+7), the file name should be
“StudentID_StudentName_Assigment1_Date” or “GroupName_Assigment1_Date”.
Otherwise, the report is considered as it has not been submitted. Then the student must submit
the hard copy to the lecturer no later than 04/05/2024-17:00:00 (GMT+7) at FASC (201/CN1).
Each group of students will prepare and present a short presentation (about 5 minutes/group) on
week (06/04/2024 – 20/05/2024) (using CTU PPT template).
The report content of each topic is SIX pages of A4 maximum (excluding the cover sheet).

1. Introduction
To meet the growing demand for more fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly vehicles,
automakers are putting more of an emphasis on fuel-cell vehicles, plug-in hybrid electric
vehicles (PHEVs), electric vehicles, and hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs). Power converters,
electric motors, related electronics, and small size and low cost are required for these vehicles,
along with high efficiency. Fuel-cell vehicles may require a power-conditioning unit, steer-by-
wire and brake-by-wire applications require a fast-response motor, inverter, and control system.
Actuators that are integrated with power electronics lower costs and increase system reliability.
The type of power converter used to control the operating characteristics of a vehicle and vehicle
dynamics are also significantly influenced by electric motor technology.
2. Overview
A summary and general definition of HEVs are provided in this report. A general classification
of series and parallel arrangements is explained. Furthermore, detailed illustrations of an
integrated starter-generator (ISG), a major subject in electric motors for hybrid automobiles, are
displayed. The basic idea of plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs), which can achieve better fuel
economy and efficiency with a wider range in pure electric propulsion mode, is presented in the
following section. The part after that provides illustrations of a fuel-cell-based vehicle propulsion
system and an automobile fuel-cell auxiliary power unit (APU) along with a general fuel cell
classification for automotive applications.
