Acknowledgement

I want to seize this chance to communicate my most profound gratitude, great appreciation, and

indebtedness to those people who became part of my On-the-Job Training journey. I completed this mission

with their help and unconditional support and acquired remarkable experience and never-ending knowledge

that I will forever remain. I am wholeheartedly dedicating my acknowledgment of gratitude to the following

names of individuals involved in assisting me through guidance, financial, and inspiration.

First, I want to thank Mr. Carl Bautista, one of my academic sponsors, for introducing me to the

ZipHR team and Ms. Maria Margarita B. Flores for her kind supervision in helping me to become a

professional and better version of myself. Her never-ending kindness in letting me experience first-hand

training despite the virus threat. Her appreciation for me whenever I finish a task that gives me enough

strength and courage to take every opportunity and be confident. Her empathy and consideration for her

subordinates make her become a great leader and my role model. Despite the pandemic and other

predicaments, she encountered, she never left her staff behind. I would be eternally thankful for the

opportunity that I am one of her interns.

Second, I want to thank my instructors, Ms. Antonnette Tañon and Ms. Veronica Naraja, for their

informative suggestions, recommendations, guidance, and kind support in letting me experience the best On-

the-Job Training program. They mold me to become a professional and efficient worker. Their teaching, either

for work or in life, will remain to me as I enter the life of becoming an employee soon. They taught me things

that I can only learn in the working industry, shared their experiences, and past their knowledge to me. Their

persistence in responding to every question I asked. They guided me on the requirements and documents

throughout the training program. Their ongoing assistance and help during my problems encountered during

my internship. This training gives me new experiences and knowledge about the life of a professional worker

that I can use for future purposes.

ii
Third, I want to thank the Officium Inc. personnel and ZipHR team for their warm welcome, offering

me friendships, making me laugh, free food, accommodation, assistance, and unforgettable moments that I

will always treasure.

I sincerely thank my beloved parents, friends, classmates, and loved ones for their unwavering love,

guidance, motivation, and prayers for wisdom. They are my inspirations to make this thing possible. And

despite the hardship of the pandemic, my parents were able to sustain my daily finances. Without these

people, I will not experience these outstanding achievements.

To Dr. Joemy C. Lopez, Chairman of the College of Business Education and my OJT supervisor, for

trusting and believing me as she appointed me to become one of her student internship facilitators and for

making me involved being a candidate in the exchange student program. Her assistance, support, and words

of encouragement whenever we reported our problems or needed her signatories. For her time and effort in

checking our situation during internship deployment.

Also, I want to thank the Technological Institute of the Philippines and the Faculty of College of

Business Education for high-quality education, professional professors, hassle-free online equipment, and

allowing us students to conduct face-to-face or hybrid training.

And last to the Almighty God, Jesus Christ. His unending graces, abundant blessings, powerful

wisdom, love, faithfulness, and strength help me survive my everyday challenges. To keep me healthy and

safe whenever I travel going to work. The Almighty God's guidance let me learn on my own, trust, sacrifice

and walk on the rough path to see the fruitful outcome and believe in positivity. Without his benevolence, I

would not excel, accomplish, and succeed in my academic and training pursuits.

TIP's OJT / Practicum program objectives:

• To provide the students an opportunity to be exposed in an actual work setting and assimilate their

academic learning into practical applications.

• To develop and still among students the industry-desired values of positive work attitude, good

human relations, competency in technical skills that pertain to their field of study, and the openness

to keep on learning to reinvent themselves.

Student Outcomes:

1. Apply knowledge of business concepts and principles to solve issues and problems in a global and

strategic perspective.

2. Communicate business ideas and information effectively both in oral and written forms.

3. Use information and communication technology in generating business reports and making

decisions.

4. Apply principles of ethics and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities

5. Function effectively as an individual and as a member or leader in diverse teams and in-

multidisciplinary settings.

6. Conduct research through independent studies of relevant literature and appropriate use of business

theories and methodologies.

7. Recognize the need for and prepare to engage in lifelong learning.

7
B. Schedule/Timetable

For the duration of the On-the-Job training, the trainee follows the schedule. The total number of hours per

week is 40 hours.

Table 5: OJT Weekly Schedule

DAY SCHEDULE
Monday 8:00am – 5:00pm
Tuesday 8:00am – 5:00pm
Wednesday 8:00am – 5:00pm
Thursday 8:00am – 5:00pm
Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm
Note: Flexible working hours and days
C. Areas of Training

• Product Feature and Application Knowledge Training. Customer success support should know the

product inside and out. All employees must have a deep working knowledge of the organization's

offerings. Employees need to know the details of the products and how they specifically fulfill different

customers' needs.

• Soft Skills Training. CS should be able to communicate with the customer because the client must

be satisfied at the end of the process. Having excellent customer service will make the clients remain

loyal to the brand. Employees who can communicate successfully with customers will increase

customer connections and promote brand loyalty.

• De-escalation strategy training. I learned basic conflict resolution skills and focused on what was

helpful to the client. Moreover, learning how to say "no" to the client without actually saying it still

provides value to the customer.

• CS Product Demonstration. It maintains a positive tone and attitude throughout the meeting. It is

remaining calm and professional, speaking slowly and clearly, and asking customers clear and direct

questions that help reps come to a practical solution efficiently present answers that will make sense

for each customer.

IV. Personal Evaluation of the Training Program

Reflection paper by the trainee to include comments on the following areas:

1. Professional Learning and Development Achieved

• Timeliness. I learned how important it is to be on time, especially when responding to every client’s issue

and work tasks. Being prompt at work helps to finish tasks on time without the feeling of rush. Additionally,

we cannot undo what has been done, so time matters.

• Positive Attitude. I learned how to always remain patient, courteous, and solution focused. A positive

outlook helps me to become aware and have less stress.

• Friendliness. It is building a friendly relationship with co-workers that encourages patience and

cooperation. It helps me communicate my needs easily as my surroundings are pleasant.

• Organize. One of the exceptional values that I have learned is to organize everything. I am exposed to

the different responsibilities of being a daughter, student, and now an employee. I learned to prioritize

important things, balance time, and orderly/structure my files, communication, meetings, and training.

• Professionalism. Shows professionalism, especially in all correspondence, must always be professional

yet friendly.

• Curiosity. Being curious about my surroundings and what I am doing led me to seek more information

and gain knowledge. Being a newcomer to the company, I learned many things that are not available in

the schools and how to manage different scenarios in case of having problems or struggles on the client’s

side.

• Proactivity. Always think one step ahead to help identify potential issues that clients might encounter and

be proactive about helping address them.

11
• Teamwork. I had the chance to be part of a dedicated and passionate team about their jobs. The group

exerts effort as one to achieve their goal and complete the task as the successful CS employee. They

always help each other where they work as a whole as a team.

2. Modern Techniques, Skills, and Tools Used/Learned

• Microsoft Office 365. It is the productivity apps with intelligent cloud services that transform how

teamwork.

o Microsoft Outlook. It is a secure email app that keeps you connected with your calendar, emails,

and files. It is a task organizer, a calendar reminder, and saves your contact.

o Microsoft Teams. It is an app where chats, video calls, meetings, files, tasks, and a calendar are

all available. It connects easily with people through group chats and works with teammates.

• Zendesk. It is a software-as-a-service solution for customer support, sales, and other customer

interactions. Zendesk is a tool to keep all customer information in one place. It serves as a communication

instrument where clients and agents interact.

• Monday.com. is a cloud-based platform that authorizes users to create their applications and work

management software. The company uses this platform to quickly connect with people to process the

systems thoroughly, allowing teams to flourish in all aspects of their job while fostering a transparent

company environment.

• Pandadoc. It is a document workflow automation platform that enables rapidly increasing teams to

produce, manage, and sign digital documents like proposals, quotations, and contracts.

• Slack. It is a new way of communicating with your people. It's more efficient, organized, and secure than

email. Slack divides conversations into channels, allowing everyone to share ideas, make decisions, and

progress work in one spot. It lets teams perform more efficiently and stay in sync no matter where they

are.

12
3. Equipment, Machinery, Testing Apparatus, etc., Handheld

I frequently used mobile and computer equipment as I was exposed to software applications. They

provided me with a laptop and accounts to be able to access their product. Moreover, what I usually used

during internship training was the ziphr software application. All HR functions are there, so I log in there every

day. They also teach me how to use two monitors/ screens to view more prominent and present appropriately

to the client.

4. Experiences with the Company Personnel Involved in the Training

The senior CS officers helped me become aware of the responsibilities and work on the ziphr. They

always motivate me to become a better employee someday and hopefully work with them. Thus, they taught

me about technicalities and worked as a CS agent. The CEO instructs me about some techniques to achieve

in life, takes time to practice everything, boosts my confidence, and never lets me down. Also, she educated

me about getting a cutting list and being economical while maximizing the use of the materials.

5. Best Practices Used/Applied

During the internship training, the best practice that I got was being professional all the time, being

business-minded, and never wasting your time on the simple matter. The second is having an attitude of

being competitive with a positive outlook. Always be hungry for knowledge, curious, and confident to conquer

the world. Lastly, I learned that it is better to ask for help if we are unsure about something to avoid future

problems. Asking for help from seniors will lead me to the right path to success.

Most people say that what we learn in school will never be taught or applied at work. Well, not all, because

there are still lessons that I used and applied during the internship program that I learned from school. One

of those is learning the basic knowledge of all human resources subjects, from administrative, training and

development, compensation and benefits, and human capital. Having a background in these subjects makes

me stand out from all internship applicants, and with that, they wanted me to become part of their team.

Moreover, I had no difficulty taking any task from them with the basic knowledge.

13
6. Discipline Related Solutions Integrated into the Company

The company has a team learning discipline, where leadership is shared and open communication.

As observed, they solicit opinions from employees to develop better solutions. They constantly seek my

opinion for them to understand my generation and formulate a strategy on how to pursue them. They also

trained me to be always honest about my ideas and feelings so they could give me what I needed. They

never spoon-fed or spoiled me with information in terms of other disciplines. They let me experience the

hardships to get learnings from mistakes. Moreover, they teach me the proper way of communicating with

others and the right way how to approach clients.

7. Strong Points

I believe my most unique strong point is that I am a dedicated, hardworking, and passionate person.

I'm willing to learn new skills and never afraid to try on different things. I never choose what to work on

because I believe that learning new skills is an advantage. When I love something, I try my best to keep

myself interested and excel in that area. I have leadership and management skills. I am good at managing

people and training them to become better.

8. Weak Points and Suggested Solutions

My weakness is that I cannot speak straight English in public, and sometimes I have trouble

pronouncing unfamiliar words. I also panicked and down when things did not go according to the original

plan. I am also a work conscious because I want my work to be done to my utmost performance to get my

desired outcome. Moreover, I'm now taking steps to communicate in the English language by watching

movies and reading novels. I am also learning to be happy and satisfied with my performance.

V. Success Stories

Name: ALAIKA G. OBSIOMA

Internship, on-site: OFFICIUM INC.

Program: Bachelor of Science in Business

Administration major in Human Resource Management

Expected Graduation Year: 2022

Briefly describe your internship, co-op, research, or service-learning opportunity, including

your day-to-day tasks, responsibilities, and assignments.

I take my internship training as a CS intern in Officium under the ziphr team, an HR solution that
helps businesses manage their people. I work with four CS senior officers, and they taught me how to
navigate the application independently. Every day I am assigned to shadow for tasks related to clients
and admin work, involved in client handling, actively using Zendesk and Jira, and perform a system
demo to assess my progress in learning ZipHR and its features. My internship experience was
excellent. It never gets me boring during the internship training because I encounter new tasks every
day. Moreover, the people at the company were very hands-on, understanding, and friendly, and I
never felt the pressure.

What have you enjoyed the most about your position or organization/company/internship
activity?

I loved how my selected firm prioritized career development throughout my training. Their hands-
on training in HR software solutions gave me a competitive edge in the HR profession. One of the
aspects of this program that appeals to me the most and excites me about the future is the emphasis
on professional progression. Moreover, I observed a four-person team during my internship training,
and we collaborated on a range of projects where each of us was accountable for one aspect of the
project. I like the concept of teamwork and seeing how all of our projects came together. I enjoyed the
teamwork component because I learned a lot about myself when working with others.

What have you gained from your experience that you could not have gained from another
opportunity?

I learned how to operate a modern HR software solution which I could not have gained from
another prospect. During my internship training, my company taught me how to utilize an HR software
solution. I find it interesting because most companies are now using modern technologies to optimize
their people and daily operation. As an aspiring Human Resource, I see it as a great advantage because
it will help reduce the burden and workload of an HR in doing administrative tasks. Moreover, this kind

15
of skill is an edge because not all people will have the chance to learn it firsthand and from expert
persons. I wanted to know more deeply about this thing because I believe that companies will
implement software solutions to handle their human capital better and optimize operations. I am so
lucky that my company did not hesitate to train me in this field. They provide materials, equipment, and
time to guide me. They also let me experience engaging with their clients, and I was grateful for the
opportunity.

What advice would you give to other students?

My guidance to other students is to be an enthusiast. This attitude exhibits that they are open to
learning new things, love being part of the team, and are keen to assist. Curiosity and enthusiasm
guarantee that they will get a lot out of work, which will lead to many opportunities. Moreover, the first
impression lasts, so always give the best shot in everything. Do not be selective in choosing work tasks.
Do not settle for less; always think this is the last chance.

What are your meaningful experiences during your internship?

One of my meaningful experiences during my internship was speaking with people in a

professional setting. My coworkers, especially my head mentor, always make me engage in their
meetings and discussions, and they let me share my ideas and listen to my opinions. They prepared
me to behave professionally and confidently and sound more mature and experienced in a business
setting. Next, my internship became more meaningful when they gave me newfound knowledge. They
sharpened my skills to become an efficient employee. Last, they always provide feedback so I can
improve my weakness. They appreciate everything I do and encourage me.

Please provide a short quote about what you liked most about your position/earning internship
credit/the internship placement process.

"Always make the most of it and take every opportunity to learn."

We cannot undo what happened in the past or predict what will happen tomorrow. So always
focus on the present, and do not hesitate to take the chance that would help change your future.

VI. Recommendations

A. Potential of the Company as a Training Ground

Officium Inc. serves as a good training ground for human resource students like me and all outgoing

trainees. This organization exclusively offers excellent internship opportunities, allowing students to develop

as individuals and outstanding future professionals. The trainee was treated as one of the company's co-

workers. The organization provides students with numerous opportunities to learn more about themselves.

Such as what they can achieve even if they believe they have reached their limit. Students can expand their

knowledge and insights on anything related to human resources, administration, and a company's overall

operations by venturing beyond their comfort zone. They opened a new career for me to pursue once I

graduated as a human resource student. The organization can provide the trainee with valuable experience

and additional knowledge and skills on how to be a productive employee in the business world.

1. Availability and Appropriateness of Facilities, Equipment and Machinery

Officium Inc.'s availability and appropriateness of the facilities and equipment are all suitable

for the work of the student trainee. The company is equipped with appropriate facilities so that a

trainee has their own working space. They offer free equipment such as a laptop and headset. They

also provide additional knowledge and hands-on skills.

2. Company Personnel Cooperation

Based on what I have experienced within this company, I can say that it is worth it that I

invested my time and efforts to join here. The people at this company are very approachable, kind,

and thoughtful. They were very hands-on and understanding, especially since I am a newbie and my

first time working in the field. They show me their dedication to communicating and have me

participate in all their engagements. They taught me to become what kind of employee I am now. I

was very welcome in this company as they showed me their gratitude, optimism, greatness, and trust

in me.

17
B. Duration of Training

The duration of the training that I spent in the company was four hundred fifty (450) hours. In my

opinion, this hour of OJT work is enough to understand the responsibilities of an employee exposed to office

work. The accumulated hours throughout the OJT program are good practice to experience and have the

ideas and familiarization with how the business industry works. They provide me with a good foundation

related to my business program. They give me a visualization of being a successful businesswoman

someday.

C. Suggestions for the Improvement of the Training Program

My suggestion for the betterment of the training program is to maintain their incentives if the intern

finishes a particular project. Continue their compassion by providing travel allowances for interns far from the

training location. Keep their kindness in letting the interns borrow equipment. My other suggestion would be

to offer seminars related to their field, motivational meetings, and safety measures workshops in case of

emergency. The school training program is to plot OJT activities and steps where all requirements are listed

according to their priority. It is to avoid confusion, save much time, and focus more on submitting

requirements.

D. Advise to Future On-the-Job Trainees

My advice to the future On-the-Job Trainees is to be mentally and physically prepared because most

workplaces are toxic and can bring stress to you. Some companies have a great working environment but

are too far from your place; better to consider the location of your training. Second, organize all the

requirements and other legal documents compliances, especially in the school conditions. Always follow your

institution's policy to avoid future problems. Third, be patient with all of your co-workers, superiors, and

subordinates because it is one of the requirements in every department that you possibly will be your job.

Fourth, be dedicated to learning new things and gaining more experiences. Exhibit your passion and interest

18
in your career to them so that they see you as an efficient employee. Show respect and professionalism all

the time. Lastly, monitor the safety of everyone, including yourself.
