PLAN Earth science
Teaching time April 06, 2024 Quarter 4th
and date 7:45-8:45 am
10:00 – 11:00 am

Content Standard: The learners demonstrate an understanding of the relation of geographical location of the
Philippines to its environment.
Performance Standard: The learners should be able to analyze the advantage of the location of the Philippines in
relation to the climate, weather, and seasons.
Learning competency: The learners should be able to recognize that soil, water, rocks, coal, and other fossil fuels
are Earth materials that people use as resources; S7ES-IVb4

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the learners should be able to:
a. identify examples of Renewable and Non-renewable resources;
b. differentiate Renewable resources from Non-renewable resources;
c. show importance of Renewable and Non-renewable resources in our daily living.

II. Subject Matter

Topic: renewable vs. non-renewable energy

III. Learning Resources

(Reviewing previous lesson 5 minutes)

ELECIT
Before we proceed to our new lesson let us have a short review
about our previous lesson. It’s all about Natural Resources.

What was our past lesson all about?

That's Right!

What are Natural resources? Natural Resources are any part of our natural
Exactly right! environment which is utilized by human beings
for their welfare.
What are examples of Natural Resources?
Land, air, water, forest, minerals and wildlife’s.
Very Good! It seems that you’ve listened very well on our
previous discussion, let us now proceed to our new lesson.
(Establishing a purpose or motivation)
ENGAGE

As an introduction on our new lesson, we will play a game

entitled “4 Pics 1 Word”. Here are the mechanics of our game;

Mechanics:
1. Observe and analyze each set of pictures.
2. Arrange the jumbled letters to get the possible answers.

Everyone must participate, just raise your hands if you want to Round 1. Answer: WATER
answer.

Round 2. Answer: RENEWABLE

Round 3. Answer: FOSSIL FUEL

Round 4 Answer: NON-RENEWABLE

Round 5 Answer: RESOURCES

What are the words you encountered in our game? Yes

Very good!
Water, renewable, fossil fuel, non-renewable and
resources.

Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills

EXPLORE

1. Activity
To further discover the deeper meaning of
renewable resources and non- renewable
resources you will have an activity.

Instructions:
1. Study the table and write the
characteristics that correspond to
the given resources.
2. Do the activity in 10 minutes and
afterwards we will post the check your
work and discuss the activity

REMINDERS:
1. All must participate with this
activity.
2. Do the activity actively and
silently.

(After 10 minutes we will check their answers and

further discussion of their activity will follow)
Developing mastery leads to assessment
(EXPLAIN – 15 minute)
Now to further understand our lesson, please watch this video. The student will watch the video about distance
After watching the video. vs. Displacement.
Class what is distance?
Very Good. Distance is the measurement of the actual path
Is the distance scalar or vector? travelled.

Why? Scalar
Very Good! Distance is scalar it is only signified by magnitude.
What about the displacement?
Displacement is straight-line distance between 2
Is the displacement a scalar or vector?
points.
How can you say that it is a vector?
Vector
It includes magnitude and direction.
Very Good everyone, it seems that you listened well in the
video.
Finding practical applications of concepts and skills in daily living
(ELABORATE - 10 minutes)

Class what do you think is the importance of studying the

concept of distance and displacement in our daily living? Is important for navigation of travel.

Very good! It helps me to find the shortest route from my

What else? house to school.
It helps us to have time management in travelling
Do you have any clarifications? from house to school

None, Ma’am
1. If none, again what is the difference between distance
and displacement? Distance is the longest length of path travelled by
the object while displacement is the shortest
straight-line distance between 2 points.

Please close all your notes, we will be having our short quiz.

Evaluating Learning
(EVALUATE- 10 minutes)

Let’s evaluate your learning.

Directions: choose the letter of the correct answer. ANSWER KEY

5. Which of the following differentiate distance from
displacement?
a. Distance is a vector quantity while displacement is a
scalar quantity.

displacement does not follow straight line.
c. Displacement is the total length of the entire path
travelled by the object while distance is the shortest
distance between the object’s two positions.
d. None of the above

Additional activities (homework)

(EXTEND – 5 minutes)
For your assignment, create a roadmap from your house to
your school. Include the labels and landmarks and apply colors
for easy reading and tracking. Use broken Lines to race the path
from home to school and use straight line to trace the direction
from the house to school.
