-Now, that you are in grade 9, you’re experiencing
physical changes. You’ve been exposed to
different undertakings that somehow affected your
health and lifestyle thereby affecting your weight
as a teenager. This topic will surely bring you fun,
fitness, and fundamentals.

Our topic this afternoon is all about Zumba.
What is zumba dance?

Zumba dance is an alternative indoor recreational


activity with fitness benefit claims.

When was Zumba created?
It was accidentally discovered by Alberto “Beto”
Perez, a celebrity fitness trainor of Colombia in
the mid 90’s. The birth of Zumba came about
during one of his aerobics class, when he realized
that he had forgotten his aerobics music. It so
happened that his tapes are those of Latin music
such as merengue and salsa.

What are the benefits we can get from Zumba?

from Zumba?

Now let us proceed with the basic step of Zumba.

1.Salsa:

 Begin with your feet together


 On beat one, step forward with your left
(Students are actively listening)

 On beat two, shift your weight to your
right foot
 On beat three, step your left foot to center
again
 Beat four is pause
 On beat five, step back with your right foot
 On beat six, shift your weight to the center

2.Samba: (Students are actively listening)

 Bend the left knee as you step to the left


with the left foot
 Bring the right foot behind and across the
left foot then straighten
 Bend the left knee as you step in place
with your left foot
 Straighten
 Bend the right knee as you step to the right
with the right foot

3.Cha-Cha-Cha:

 Slide your left foot forward, shifting your (Students are actively listening)
weight onto that foot
 Shift your weight to your right foot
 Step back to the side-left and shift your
weight to your left foot
 Shift your weight onto your right foot

4. Merengue:

 Start in a closed position


 Begin by shifting your weight on your
right foot
 Step on your left foot, leaning slightly to (Students are actively listening)
your left as you do so
 Shift your weight on your left foot
 Slide to the left with your right foot,
bending then straightening that leg as you
do so

IV. PRACTICE

This time, since you already know the basic


dance step of zumba. I’m going to group you into (Students are actively listening)
four. And each group must select one leader.
(The teacher group the class into 4 groups)
Each group will perform maximum of 3 minutes.

I will give you 3 minutes to practice with your


group.
But before that I have here the rubrics of your
presentation for you to be guided.
