C. Developing - Now, let’s discuss the DANCE.

and
Deepening - Dance is an indoor recreational
Understandin activity for those who enjoy the
g rhythm and movement. It is a fun
(Tasks and and effective form of exercise that
Taught) gradually raises the heart rate,
providing an excellent cardio
workout. Regular participation in
dance helps tighten and tone muscle
groups while burning calories.

- Did you know that dancing is not

just fun, but also a great form of
exercise? It’s actually really
convenient and easy to do. I’ve
heard people say, 'If you can walk,
then you can dance.' And honestly,
that’s true! Almost anyone can do it.
You don’t have to be a professional
dancer to enjoy it. The best part?
You get to stay healthy while having
fun!

- Now, we all know that dance has

so many different styles, right?
From ballet to hip-hop, there’s
something for everyone. But today,
we're going to focus on a particular
dance style that is directly connected Students: ZUMBA!
to fitness. Can anyone guess which
one I’m talking about?

- Exactly, it’s Zumba! Zumba is a

high-energy dance workout that
combines Latin and international
music with fun dance moves. It's
designed to get your heart pumping,
and it's a fantastic way to stay fit
while enjoying the music. You don't
need to be a professional dancer to
take part—just a love for music and
movement, and you're good to go!.
Student: Zumba dance is an alternative
Now, may I have __________, to indoor recreationl activity with fitness benefit
read what is on the slides? claims. It was discovered by Alberto “Beto”
Perez, a celebrity fitnesss trainor of Colombia
in the mid 90’s.

- Great job reading that passage! So,

as we just read, Zumba is all about
combining fun dance moves with
fitness, right? What’s really cool
about Zumba is that it doesn't feel
like exercise at all. It’s like a party!
You're dancing to energetic beats,
but at the same time, you're getting a
full-body workout. It helps with
cardio, muscle toning, and even
stress relief. So, not only is it great
for your body, but it's also good for
your mind! (Students response may vary)

Now, who here has ever tried

Zumba or seen a class before? What
do you think? Would you like to try
it?

So, here's how Zumba started. One

day, during an aerobics class, the
instructor realized he forgot his
usual workout music. In a panic, he
quickly grabbed whatever tapes he
had in his backpack. And guess
what? They were all Latin music,
like merengue and salsa. He
thought, "Why not?" and decided to
improvise by using these tunes for
the class. That spontaneous mix of
dancing and fitness caught on and
turned into what we now call
Zumba!

ACTIVITY 2: “BUILD ME UP,

BUTTERCUP.”

Alright, everyone! We’re going to

do a fun activity called “Build Me
Up, Buttercup.”

I’ll be dividing you into 5 groups

now. Under your chairs, you’ll find

You’ll be grouped based on the
color you pick. The colors are
yellow, blue, red, pink, and brown.

Please go ahead and join your

group. Students: Yes Sir!
Now, here’s how the activity works:
I’ve prepared a half-sized cartolina (Students will do the activity)
and an envelope with words and
phrases for each group. Your task is
to arrange these words and phrases
to create a passage to unlock the

the task. Is that clear?

time for each group to present what
you’ve worked on. Please go ahead

- Great Job, Everyone! All of your

answers are correct. Let’s give
ourselves an big round of applause.
As a whole, Zumba is an incredible
workout that offers a variety of
benefits! First, it’s fantastic for your
cardiovascular health. The mix of
fast and slow rhythms creates an
interval workout that gets your heart
pumping and improves blood
circulation, delivering oxygen
throughout your body.

When it comes to losing weight,

Zumba helps a lot. Those cardio
intervals can burn up to 600 calories
in just one hour, making it a great
option for anyone looking to shed
some pounds.

Beyond that, Zumba is amazing for

stress relief. The dance moves
trigger the release of endorphins—
those feel-good hormones that help
melt away stress and worries while
you're working out. Plus, those
endorphins can really boost your
mood, giving you a lift in self-
esteem, confidence, and overall
happiness.

And don’t forget, Zumba helps to

tone your abdominals. The dance
moves engage your core muscles,
helping you to strengthen and firm
up your abs.
