Summer Internship Program (SIP) Policy

Introduction

At IMS Ghaziabad, Summer Internship is an important prerequisite to


qualify for PGDM. The program provides students an invaluable
opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios. These
experiences not only enhance practical skills but also provide a unique
insight into industry dynamics, fostering professional growth and network
expansion. Through hands-on projects, mentorship and collaboration,
summer internships equip students with a competitive edge, preparing
them for successful careers in their chosen fields.

1. Objectives
The Summer Internship Program (SIP) aims to achieve the following
objectives:
1.1. Provide students with opportunities to gain real-world experience in a
professional setting before their final placement.
1.2. Enhance students' learning experiences through practical, hands-on
work in real-world or industry environments.
1.3. Develop and improve business operations, lifelong knowledge, and
skills in a realistic work setting.

2. Outcomes
After completion of the SIP, learners are expected to:
2.1. Demonstrate the application of acquired knowledge and skill sets from
the course and workplace in assigned job functions.
2.2. Communicate and collaborate effectively with various professionals in
the work environment through written and oral means.
2.3. Develop interpersonal, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
2.4. Recommend ideas to enhance work effectiveness and efficiency by
analyzing viable alternative business strategies.
2.5. Exhibit professional ethics by maintaining a positive disposition during
corporate interactions.

3. Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)

Step 1: The placement process of students for the Summer Internship


Program is managed by Institute's CRC cell.
Step 2: Students SIP placement is confirmed by CRC cell as communicated
by companies.
Step 3: Industry will issue a joining confirmation to CRC or directly to
students through email/fax or hard copy letter.
-In case the students arrange the training themselves the approval and
confirmation letter has to be submitted by the students in the CRC office.
Step 4: Students on joining internships at the concerned Industry /
Organization, need to submit the Joining Report (Form I) through email to
CRC cell along with a copy to faculty mentor.
Step 5: Students undergo Internship at the concerned Industry /
Organization, as per the task allocated to them, for the said duration of 6-8
weeks.
Step 6: Students are required to connect through online/offline with their
faculty mentor on a weekly basis and submit Form II and the SIP
report as per the timelines shared (Table 1 and Table 3)
Step 7: Faculty Mentor(s) monitor the progress of the students on a weekly
basis and evaluate them on the basis of their performance, timely
submission of forms and in consultation with the Industry mentor.
Step 8: After completion of the internship period, Certificate of completion
is to be obtained by the student from the Industry expert/ HR Manager.
Step 9: After completion of the internship period, students need to seek
approval from their respective faculty mentors about the content and
structure of the report. After due approval, students need to get the
plagiarism checked. (IMS follows an anti-plagiarism policy of less
than 20% similarity). Following plagiarism check, students have to
submit two hardbound copies and one soft copy of the report to the Faculty
mentor.
Step 10: SIP will be completed upon the final presentation and VIVA
VOCE as per the notification of Examination.
For any guidance or issues during the internship, students should contact
their Faculty mentor. In case, the issue is not resolved, the matter can be
escalated to the CRC.

4. MONITORING & EVALUATION OF INTERNSHIP


The Internship of the students will be evaluated by various stakeholders
and at different stages:
4.1. Evaluation by Industry Mentor
4.2. Evaluation by Faculty Mentor
4.3. Evaluation of report by another Faculty (Non Mentor)
4.4. Evaluation through Presentation & Viva-voce.
