Context and purpose of assessment:

All tools and materials will be provided for your use and they are now set at the
practical areas.

Qualification of competencies to be assessed


Today I am going to administer the competency assessment for Food &
Beverage Services NC II. It is the qualification level with four units of Core
Competencies namely;
1. Provide a Link between Kitchen & Service area
2. Provide Food & Beverage Service
3. Provide Room Service
4. Develop & update Food & beverage knowledge
A person who has achieved this qualification is competent to be:
1. Food Attendant
2. Waiter/Waitress
3. Food server
Tasks to be performed and the evidence to be collected
You will be directed to perform - provide food & beverage service & provide
room service
Provide food & beverage service:
a. Prepare dining/restaurant area for service
b. Prepare & set up tables
c. Welcome customers
d. Take & process orders
e. Serve & clear food & drinks
Provide room service:
a. Take & process service orders
b. Set up trays & trolleys
c. Present room service meals & beverage to guest
d. Present room service account
e. Clear room service area
You will perform each competency within 20 minutes, while you will be
performing your task, I’ll be roaming around to observe you.
By the way, my role here as your assessor is:
 To support the assessment environment
 To give you feedback after the assessment
 To maintain confidentiality of the flow of the assessment

Assessment procedures to be undertaken


For our assessment procedures you will undergo:
 written exams for me to evaluate you underpinning knowledge (total # of
items is 30)
 Skills demonstration
 oral questioning

You will be rated based on the comparison of your performance against the
standard performance criteria, for the purpose of making the evaluation
consistent and fair among all the candidates.

Needs of the candidates to be considered during assessment


For those who will use the comfort room you may now go, for you will not be
allowed to go out from the assessment area when the assessment formally
starts.
By the way, is there anybody of you here find difficulty in understanding
English language?

Allowable/ reasonable adjustments in the assessment procedures


For the information of everyone, supposed if you are not COMPETENT and you
disagree with the result, then you can file an appeal towards the decision of the
assessor.

C1 will be the first one to enter the assessment area.

Mr. Piquero you have passed successfully the written examination in fact you
got the highest score. But sad to say, you were not able to carry out the
demonstration of skills in accordance with the performance criteria specifically
on the unit of competency Provide room service, instead of knocking the door
gently with soft voice, you shouted making your customer felt nervous. You
were found not yet competent. But don’t be frustrated, all you need to do is to
review and practice the activities related to the competency requirement of the
qualification further. You come back after a month for reassessment or when
you feel confident enough that you have acquired the necessary skills. You will
only be reassessed on the part of the activities that you were found to be not
yet competent.

Ms. Gabriel and Ms. Villegas, you have done the task within the standard
requirement of the qualification. So you were found out to be competent.

and practice the activities related to the competency requirement of the
qualification further. You come back after a month for reassessment or when

I would like to acknowledge the presence of Ms. Sheri Love Aguiman, one of the
members of Provincial Competency Assessment Committee, Mrs. Idjya Yder,
our representative TESDA provincial Office.

You do not have to worry about their presence. They are here to oversee the
conduct of competency assessment and to check if the conduct is in
accordance with the prescribed competency assessment methodology and
procedures. In short, they will not assess you.

Apolinar our ever active Competency Assessment processing officer had given
it to me this morning. This is an indication that you know how to perform all
the units of competency enumerated in this qualification.

Context and purpose of assessment:


Once again, welcome to Gingoog City Comprehensive National High School an
accredited assessment center for various Qualifications under Tourism sector

All tools and materials will be provided for your use and they are now set at the
practical areas.

Qualification of competencies to be assessed


Today I am going to administer the competency assessment for Food &
Beverage Services NC II. It is the qualification level with four units of Core
Competencies namely;
21. Provide a Link between Kitchen & Service area
22. Provide Food & Beverage Service
23. Provide Room Service
24. Develop & update Food & beverage knowledge
A person who has achieved this qualification is competent to be:
16. Food Attendant
17. Waiter/Waitress
18. Food server
Tasks to be performed and the evidence to be collected
You will be directed to perform - provide food & beverage service & provide
room service
Provide food & beverage service:
a. Prepare dining/restaurant area for service
b. Prepare & set up tables
c. Welcome customers
d. Take & process orders
e. Serve & clear food & drinks
Provide room service:
a. Take & process service orders
b. Set up trays & trolleys
c. Present room service meals & beverage to guest
d. Present room service account
e. Clear room service area
You will perform each competency within 20 minutes, while you will be
performing your task, I’ll be roaming around to observe you.
By the way, my role here as your assessor is:
 To support the assessment environment
 To give you feedback after the assessment
 To maintain confidentiality of the flow of the assessment

Assessment procedures to be undertaken


For our assessment procedures you will undergo:
 written exams for me to evaluate you underpinning knowledge (total # of
items is 30)
 Skills demonstration
 oral questioning

You will be rated based on the comparison of your performance against the
standard performance criteria, for the purpose of making the evaluation
consistent and fair among all the candidates.

Needs of the candidates to be considered during assessment


For those who will use the comfort room you may now go, for you will not be
allowed to go out from the assessment area when the assessment formally
starts.
By the way, is there anybody of you here find difficulty in understanding
English language?
Ok, I guess all of you understand English as our medium of instruction.

Allowable/ reasonable adjustments in the assessment procedures


For the information of everyone, supposed if you are not COMPETENT and you
disagree with the result, then you can file an appeal towards the decision of the
assessor.
