Fairness
WE DON’T TRUST SZABMU
I, as an affected student of the SZABMU MDCAT 2024, am raising a voice on behalf of the
20,000+ students from Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Balochistan,
lower Punjab and overseas students who had taken SZABMU MDCAT 2024. We believe to
necessitate our only demand – “reconduct of the exam”.
The exam held on September 22nd was marred by significant injustices, including
instances of cheating and preferential treatment for certain students
One of the most critical issues was the shuffled question papers, the incorrect answer
keys, and the excessively high difficulty level. The use of five color codes—pink, blue, white,
yellow, and green—was intended to minimize the chances of cheating. The question paper
of same color codes should have been same BUT each student received a different version
of the exam.
While “out of course questions and grace marks” practice is common, this year was
different because every student received different versions of the same question paper,
and only one answer key existed for each color code. The entire paper was flawed, with
questions being not only out of course but also incorrect, making it unfair for the students.

The ultimate regulator of MDCAT exam, both in Pakistan and Overseas is, PMDC. It has
clearly unequivocally condemned what happened with the students and is willing to
reconduct the exam for the admissions to carry out smoothly. Given this, why is SZABMU
challenging the court’s decision, after deliberately wasting an entire month and
unjustifiably extending dates?

20,000+ students took the MDCAT exam, and it was simply not feasible for every single
student to file petitions and hire lawyers. Therefore, various groups of students came
together, collectively filing petitions and pooling money to hire lawyers. The most obvious
issue that have been understood by all, was the out-of-course questions. If the students
had been given the opportunity to speak in court, we would have easily outlined all the
discrepancies and flaws. As repeaters, many of us were well-versed in the topics that
were out of course, making the presence of these questions less of an issue for us. Our
issue is shuffling, and high difficulty levels.

This is totally a defensive statement. The admins of all student groups, including myself,
conducted a census to determine how many students wanted the exam to be
reconducted. It turned out that majority of students were in favor of it. The remaining
minority, who by chance scored 170+ or perhaps bought seats, were the ones opposing
the decision. SZABMU should not be one-sided. Where are the numerous emails
students tirelessly sent, day and night, requesting a reconduct of the exam? Hopefully,
those emails would have been lost, just like their ethics, because such emails would
outnumber the ones that SZABMU is mentioning.

Exceptionally High Difficulty level:
Unjust and extremely high difficulty level which does not even support PMDC's own
guidelines of only 10% difficult questions. And even it did exceed, on the contrary, UHS
exam was led with exceptionally easy which has a negative effect on our aggregate. This is
unjust judgement of students’ credibility.

Which rights are being discussed? If all citizens are equal—why is SZABMU denying future
doctors their right to proper education? Why is it shattering the dreams of thousands?
We, the students, belong in universities, not in the roads or courts. The treatment we are
enduring is mental abuse, pushing us to our limits. We cannot allow anyone to strip us of
our rights after years of hard work, determination, and sleepless nights. Will SZABMU
take responsibility for the lifetime of mental trauma they’ve caused us? Is this not
violation of human rights?
CONCLUSION:
SZABMU DEMANDS:
1. Reversal of reconduction order
2. To charge fee again if the exam is to be reconducted.
STUDENTS’ CONCERNS:
1. Reconduction to be carried out at all costs
2. Take the fee from HEC, not from us. Who asked SZABMU to have the paper
created by HEC? The loss has been suffered by us students, not by SZABMU or
HEC.
Even if we were to pay the fee, who can guarantee that SZABMU will conduct the exam
fairly? They acknowledged discrepancies, only to deny them later. After everything we've
endured, we no longer trust SZABMU with our MDCAT exam. It would be far better for
another university to take responsibility for our exam rather than SZABMU.
WE CANT LET THEM RUIN OUR FUTURE ONCE AGAIN
