project guide Mr. ARNAV SAHA for guiding
me immensely through the course of the
project. He always evinced keen interest in
my project. His constructive advice & constant
motivation have been responsible for the
successful completion of this project.

My sincere thanks goes to Mr. SHAILESH

PRASAD SINHA (Principal)Sir for his co-
ordination in extending every possible support
for the completion of this project.

At last but not the least, I would like to

thank all those who have helped directly or
indirectly towards the completion of this
project.

AIM :- To verify the charging and

discharging of a capacitor in a
RC(Resistor-Capacitor) circuit.

Key Idea :-
You can leverage the time constant of the
circuit, which is determined by τ = RC,
where R is the resistanceand C is the
capacitance. Without using a stopwatch,
you can simply observe the exponential
nature of the voltage change across the
capacitor by observing the LED or lamp
brightness,which gives you a qualitative
understanding of the capacitor's charging
and discharging.

Apparatus Required :-
 1 capacitor
 1 resistor
 1 battery
 1 switch
 1 LED or small lamp
 Connecting wires

BASIC CONCEPTS:-
The time constant τ=RC defines the rate of
charging and discharging. The capacitor
voltage will change exponentially overtime,
and you can make qualitative observations
at specific moments based on the behaviour
of the LED or lamp, which serves as a visual
inductor of the voltage across the capacitor.
