Migration Process

1. Reset Users' Passwords or Retrieve Passwords for Zimbra Mailboxes


o Ensure you have access to reset or retrieve the passwords for the users' Zimbra
mailboxes.
2. Create Users in Microsoft 365
o Create users in Microsoft 365 that match the users in Zimbra. This can be done
individually via admin.microsoft.com or in bulk using a sample sheet from
portal.azure.com.

3. Verify User Creation


o Verify that the users have been created. If a user already exists, skip this step.
There is no need to change existing users’ passwords in admin.microsoft.com.
4. Assign Licenses to Users
o Assign the necessary licenses to the users you want to migrate. This can be done
from admin.microsoft.com by navigating to Billing -> License or from User ->
Choose User -> License -> Add License.
5. Start Migration
o Begin the migration process by going to link Exchange admin center. Create a
new migration batch and follow the prompts to complete the migration.
2. Create Migration Job
1. In Exchange Admin Center, navigate to Recipients > Migration, and create
a New Migration Batch and give unique name like batch1, batch2, batch3,
etc.
2. Select IMAP Migration.
3. Upload a CSV file mapping Zimbra email addresses to Microsoft 365 email
addresses (e.g., [user@domain.com](mailto:user@domain.com). Below
the sample.
4. Select the IMAP endpoint created earlier and was success (Endpoint
name is “IMM”. Please Verify from already successfully batch.
5. Start the batch and monitor progress under Migration Batches.

6. Verify Initial Sync
o Check the status of the migration batch.
o Resolve any errors, such as authentication failures or missing mailboxes.

Click on View Details.

Click on Email for more information


7. Final Sync
After the initial sync, pause the batch and resume it for a final incremental sync to capture new
emails.

Note if you want to user to change their password for office 365 log in the you can do in bulk
below are the steps: -

Use below excel as sample

Open PowerShell command as administrator and run the below command it will provide you
new password serially copy past on same csv file for get related email password.

Kindly do not delete user from Zimbra We Still need to work around Mail Flow and some
other configuration. Once complete lets connect for remain configuration and Cut OFF the
Migration project.
