REPORT WRITING

Date: 18th April, 2025

To:
The Honorable Minister
Ministry of Education

From:
Member National Intelligence Agency

City: ABC

Subject: Survey Report on Security Arrangements in Educational Institutions

Introduction:

Due to the rising security concerns in recent times, especially threats to educational institutions, it has
become essential to assess and improve safety measures. Education is the backbone of national progress,
and any threat to students and staff must be taken seriously. A detailed survey was conducted in different
government and private institutions to evaluate their current security setup.

Report:

The survey revealed that many schools and colleges have damaged or incomplete boundary walls,
making them highly vulnerable to external threats. In numerous institutions, essential safety measures
such as barbed wire and security cameras were missing. Furthermore, multiple entry and exit gates were
found to be unchecked, allowing unauthorized access without proper monitoring. Lighting around the
perimeter was also found to be poor, especially at night, increasing the risk of unnoticed breaches.

In addition to the infrastructure concerns, the quality of manpower and equipment was found to be
inadequate. Most educational institutions have a very limited number of security guards, and those
present are largely untrained. Modern security equipment like walkie-talkies, scanners, and metal
detectors was noticeably absent. While some places had CCTV cameras installed, many of them were
outdated or not functional. Moreover, most security personnel lacked the necessary emergency response
training, leaving them unprepared to deal with any real threat.

Conclusion:

These findings highlight serious gaps in both physical infrastructure and human resource preparedness
across educational institutions. Immediate improvements in security systems, equipment, and staff
training are essential to ensure a safe learning environment.

Suggestions:

1. Boundary walls should be raised to a minimum of 8 feet and must be secured with barbed wire
and security lights.
2. Modern surveillance systems like night vision CCTV cameras must be installed and monitored
actively.
3. Professional security personnel should be hired and trained regularly.
4. Install metal detectors and scanners at main entry points.
5. Conduct monthly security drills involving students and staff.
6. Collaborate with local police stations for quick response in emergencies.
