In this section of the project, you will analyse the SEO audit report for upgrad.com from
seositecheckup.com, and suggest how you can perform SEO on it.

From the SEO audit report given above, suggest ways to perform Content SEO.

Optimisation suggestion 1:

Headline tags: There are no H1 Headings on the page which helps the search engine to
understand the important topics of the page and will also provide structure to the content on
the page leading to readability & visibility.

It is suggested to use one H1 tag per page with relevant keywords & use H2-H6 tags for sub
sections. For example, “Explore our Courses” can be used as H1 tag.

Optimisation suggestion 2:

Keywords: Although the Keyword Test has been passed by Upgrad (as per the report), however
we can still look at the competition sites and the keywords that they are utilizing and add the
relevant missing keywords to the Upgrad page.
2. Speed Optimisation

From the SEO audit report, suggest ways to perform Technical SEO.

Optimisation suggestion 1:

Robot.txt: Creating & uploading a robot.txt file for the site as it will instruct Google crawlers to crawl
only relevant pages and we can disallow pages like a thank you page, which becomes irrelevant for
searches.

Optimisation suggestion 2:

Sitemap: Creating a Sitemap.xml file that will include the URLs/list of pages on the website. This file
will help Google crawlers to get a more defined & systematic view of the site, which in turn will lead
to a better SERP ranking. It is also advised to updating the same on frequently.
2. Speed Optimisation

From the SEO audit report, suggest ways to perform Technical SEO.

Optimisation suggestion 3:

Inline CSS Test & HTML page size Test & Page Objects Test: The HTML size is greater than
average size of 33KB which can lead to lower loading time & increased bounce rate. To resolve this,
it is advised to move all CSS style rules into a single, external & minified CSS file, using Gzip
compression, minifying all JavaScripts files and use CSS layouts. Also, it’s important to remove
unnecessary images and reduce the size of the remaining images as well.

Optimisation suggestion 4:

Structured Data Test: Currently the site is not taking the advantage of HTML Microdata
specifications and Google relies on this markup to improve the display of search results. Therefore,
this needs to be resolved as too.
