In this lesson, you will learn how to:

CREATE A CUSTOM SHOW
Concepts
• Custom show can be used to adapt a single presentation for different audiences.
• Use a custom show to present an independent group of slides from your presentation.
• By choosing only a select group of these slides, you can target a specific audience
without physically creating different presentation files.

Steps

• Open EcoTravel2.pptx and click the SLIDE SHOW tab.

• Click the Custom Slide Show button in the Start Slide Show group.

• Click the Custom Shows....

• Click New... button.

• Type Sales Team in the Slide show name box.

CREATE A CUSTOM SHOW

• Click as the first slide you want to include in the custom show.

• Select Add button.

• Select to include it in the custom show and click the


button.

• To change the order of a slide select in the Slides in custom show


list box and click to move the slide down.

• Click OK.

• Click Show to preview the custom show

COPY, EDIT, DELETE A CUSTOM SHOW
Steps

• Open EcoTravel2.pptx and Select the SLIDE SHOW tab.

• Click the Custom Slide Show button in the Start Slide Show group.

• Click Custom Shows....

• Select the custom show Sales Team.

• Click Copy button.

Edit a custom show to change the slide show name, add or
remove slides from the slide show.
Steps

• Select the SLIDE SHOW tab.

• Click Custom Slide Show button in the Start Slide Show group.

• Select Custom Shows....and select the custom show EcoTravel.

• Click Edit button.

• Click in the Slide show name box and change the slide show name to
Travel.

• Remove the slide Key Benefits from the Slides in custom show by
selecting and clicking the button

• To add the slides, select slide and click Add button and click OK.

Delete a custom show

Steps

• Open EcoTravel2.pptx

• Select the SLIDE SHOW tab.

• Select the Custom Slide Show button in the Start Slide Show group.

• Select Custom Shows....

• Select the custom show Sales to delete

• Select Remove button.

• Close Custom Shows

SET UP A CUSTOM SHOW AS THE DEFAULT
Steps

• Select the SLIDE SHOW tab.

• Select the Set Up Slide Show button.

• Under Show slides, Click the Custom show option.

• Select the Custom show drop down list.

• Click Marketing as the desired custom show.

• Click OK.

CREATE A HYPERLINK
Concepts
• One can include a web address or email address in a presentation as hyperlinks.
• Also possible to link to files and other slides within a presentation.

Steps
• Switch to Normal view and display the INSERT tab. Go to Slide 3 and select the
text Meeting.

• Click the Hyperlink button in the Links group.

• Under Link to, select Place in This Document.

• Scroll and click Custom Shows


• Click Sales Team.

USE A HYPERLINK

Steps

• Display Slide 3 in Normal view

• Click to start the slide show.

• Click Meeting

• The slides in the Sales Team custom show appears, and then PowerPoint
resumes the regular slide show.

USE AN ACTION
Steps

• In Normal view Go to Slide 6 and click the INSERT tab.

• Click the Title place holder

• Click the Action button in the Links group.

• Click the desired Action on click.

• Click the Hyperlink to list drop down.

• Scroll as necessary, and click Slide...

• Click 5. Building Partnerships

• Click OK twice.

JUMP TO ANOTHER PRESENTATION
Steps

• In Normal view Go to Slide 2 and click the INSERT tab.

• Highlight the text Success.

• Select the Hyperlink button in the Links group.

• Under Link to, select the Existing File or Web Page option.

• Select the Look in drop down list.

• Click the data files drive and double-click the data files folder

• Scroll as necessary and click Review.

• Click OK.

LINK OBJECT IN SLIDES
Steps

• Switch to Normal view and insert a blank title only slide

• Select the INSERT tab and click Object.

• Select Create from file option

• Click Browse and select Balance Sheet.xlsx from the student folder.

• Check Display as icon

• Check Link A shortcut reference will be made so that changes to the file will be reflected in your
presentation. Tip: Do not check the Link if you want to embed the object

• Click OK.

EMBED DATA INTO A SLIDE AND DISPLAY AS AN
OBJECT
Steps

• Open Statements.pptx and go to slide 2 that has the title Financial


Statement 2014-15

• Select the INSERT tab and click Object.

• Select Create from file and click Browse to select Financial Statement.xlsx
from student folder

• Make sure that Display as icon is not checked and that Link is not checked.

• Click OK.

EDIT, DELETE THE EMBEDDED OBJECT
Steps

• Open Statements.pptx and go to slide 3 that


has the title Financial Statement 2015-16

• Double click on the embedded worksheet or


right-click the embedded worksheet and select
Worksheet Object and select Edit.

• The embedded worksheet opens inside the


Spreadsheet application where edits to the
sheet can be made. In cell B4 change $400 to
$420.

• Close the spreadsheet application and return to


the presentation.

Delete Embedded Data
Steps

• open Statements.pptx and go to slide 3


that has the title Financial Statement

• Select the embedded worksheet.

• Press the Delete Key.

Note: The embedded worksheet is deleted, but


the source worksheet is not affected

MERGE SLIDES
Concepts
• The Reuse Slides option is used to merge one or more slides
into an open presentation from another presentation or from a
word document that has been saved in outline view.

Steps
• Make sure slide 3 in Statements.pptx is selected
• Select the New Slide arrow in the Slides group in the HOME
tab.

• Select Reuse Slides from the menu to open the Reuse


Slides task pane.

• Click Browse and select Sales.pptx from the Student Folder.

MERGE SLIDES
• The Reuse Slides task pane will display the slides in the
presentation you have chosen

• For the merged slide to retain its own formatting tick the
Keep source formatting box at the bottom of the Reuse
Slides task pane

• To merge one slide into the presentation, click on slide 1 in


the Reuse Slides pane and it will appear after the selected
slide 3 in the presentation.

• To merge all the slides into the presentation, right click on


any slide displayed in the Reuse Slides pane and select
Insert All Slides.

To merge a document outline into an existing presentation

• Open Points.pptx and make sure slide 2 that has the


title Features is selected.
• Click the New Slide arrow in the Slides group in the
HOME tab.
• Select Slides from Outline from the menu to open the
Insert Outline window. Select Top Asia
Destinations.rtf from the student folder
• Select the merged files and click Reset in the Slides
group in the HOME tab.
• Select the Layout arrow and choose the Title and
Content Layout.
