Quarter 3 Module 1 Undefined Terms

This document defines and provides examples of three basic geometric terms: point, line, and plane. It explains that a point has no dimensions and is represented by a dot. A line has infinite length but no width or thickness. A plane extends infinitely in all directions and has infinite length and width but no thickness. The document provides pictorial models and examples of naming points, lines, and planes to illustrate these three undefined terms in geometry.

WHAT IS GEOMETRY?
► comes from two Greek words: geo, meaning
“earth” and metri, meaning “measurement”,
thus the word geometry means “earth
measurement” –
► branch of Mathematics which deals with the

sizes, shapes, positions and properties of all

things around us.
WHAT IS GEOMETRY?

The most common geometric figures are

point, line and plane. They are considered
undefined terms in geometry since they are
simply ideas. These terms serve as basis for
defining other geometric terms.
