o Each word of Chinese has got two parts. Initial ( which is also known as
prefix) and Final ( which is also known as postfix or sufex).

Before any vowel letters are initial like sh/ang.
o
If there is a vowel ,there is a sound having some word (meaning).
o
No vowel means having no sound and no meaning.
o
Semi vowels, y/I ,w/u.

o Words cannot be made without vowels.

o Consonants are dependent on vowels while vowels are independent.

o Consonents and semi vowels are initials in Chinese.

o B is called initial  as Chinese starst from B.

Word “Men” makes nouns, pronouns plural.

Ta men laoshi (Un sabke teacher.)

Rules for tones:


 One word one tone
 Tone on vowel letter.
 More than one vowel in word then put tone on vowel sequence.
 When tone in on I then no dot on it i.
 Identitcal pair letter words .

Ba ba First part will have tone on it.
 Two exceptions .

 Don’t follow vowel order in iu,io.


In words like Biao we put tone on vowel which is in Chinese vowel order. Like here
we put tone on a as a comes before a in vowel order so we put tone on it.

 2024 = èr líng èr sì nián
 Nián means year in Chinese.

 12th = shí èr hào
 Hào means date.
