• Level: Beginner (A1)

Aims:
1. Vocabulary: Introduce and practice basic color vocabulary (red, blue, green,
yellow, orange, pink, purple, black, white, brown).
2. Speaking: Encourage students to ask and answer questions about colors using
complete sentences.
3. Listening: Develop listening comprehension through interactive and engaging

animals, toys).
• Color Wheel Chart: To display all colors clearly.
• Song: "The Colors Song
• Game Props: Small classroom items or colored paper for the Color Hunt
activity.

Procedure:
Stage 1: Introduction to Colors (1 minute)

• Greet students warmly: "Good morning, everyone! Today we will learn about
colors!"
• Show flashcards of colors one by one.
o Ask: "What color is this?" and encourage students to answer: "It is red!"
o Use choral repetition to help them remember pronunciation.
o Include TPR (Total Physical Response) by asking students to point to
objects of that color.
Stage 2: Pair Speaking Practice (2 minutes)

• Model a simple question and answer exchange:

o "What color is your pencil?" → "My pencil is blue."
• Pair students and encourage them to ask and answer using classroom objects.
o Provide sentence starters on the board: "What color is your...?" → "It
is..."
• Walk around to monitor and assist.

Stage 3: Interactive Game - Color Hunt (1.5 minutes)

• Explain the rules: "I will say a color. You need to find something in the
classroom that is this color and touch it!"
o Example: "Touch something yellow!"
• Praise participation: "Great job! Well done!"
• Option: Increase difficulty by combining colors (e.g., "Find something red and
blue!").

Stage 4: Wrap-up and Song (0.5 minute)

• Play a short clip of "The Colors Song" to reinforce vocabulary.

• Ask each student: "What is your favorite color?" Encourage full sentences: "My
favorite color is..."

Anticipated Problems & Solutions:

• Problem: Students may confuse similar colors (e.g., blue and green).
o Solution: Use vivid and contrasting flashcards with relatable objects
(blue sky, green leaf).
• Problem: Shy or quiet students may hesitate to speak.
o Solution: Encourage pair or group work to reduce pressure and provide
positive reinforcement.
• Problem: Students may lose focus quickly.
o Solution: Keep the pace quick and activities interactive (e.g., movement
in the Color Hunt).
