Basic Rules of Antiderivative
Basic Rules of Antiderivative
Integration is the opposite process of differentiation and hence the name "anti" derivatives.
Integer Integration
Integral indefinite
OBJECTIVES
This session aims to:
❑ Define and illustrate antidifferentiation
❑ Enumerate and illustrate the basic integration
formulas for the power functions; and
❑ Evaluate integrals involving power formulas
3
One of the most important thing that you
need to remember in this subject.
- adding the arbitrary constant c upon getting
the antiderivative.
+C
4
Antidifferentiation
- is the inverse process of differentiation (or
getting the derivative).
- Also called as the process of integration –
for it involves summing up.
5
DO NOT FORGET THE +c
Find the derivative of the following functions
1. f(x) = 𝑥 2 + 3𝑥 + 1
2. g(x) = 𝑥 2 + 3𝑥 − 7
3. h(x) = 𝑥 2 + 3𝑥 + 99999999999999999
න 𝑑𝑥 = 𝑥 + 𝑐
Example:
a. 𝑦 = 𝑦𝑑 + 𝑐 = 𝑓𝑑
b. 𝑧 = 𝑧𝑑 + 𝑐 = 𝑚𝑑
Antidifferentiation
2. Antiderivatives of a constant (k)
= 𝑥𝑑𝑘 k = 𝑥𝑑 kx + c
Example:
a. 2𝑑𝑦 = 𝟐𝒚 + 𝒄
𝑑𝑥 1 𝒙
