III. PROCEDURE

Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

A. Preparatory Activities

1. Prayer
Good morning class! Before we start, let us (Students do as told!
put ourselves in the presence of God.

Amen!
Amen!

2. Greetings
Once again, good morning! Good morning, Miss Ann. Good morning
classmates, good morning!
Before you take your seats, tap the right
shoulder of your seatmate and say “Hi! How
are you?” with a big smile. Now, tap your “Hi! How are you?”
other seatmate and say “Okay na to!”
“Okay na to!”
And please arrange your chairs properly and
pick up some pieces of paper under your
chairs.

You may take your seats now.

Students do as told!
3. Setting of Classroom
Class, remember the rules inside the
classroom.
Remember MATH.
M-must come to class neat, clean and prepared.
A-actively participate in the activities and pay
attention to the discussion.
T-talk appropriately and respectfully to your
teacher and classmates.
H-have fun while learning.

Understood?
Yes, ma’am!
Great!
Who is absent?
None ma’am
That’s great!
Let us give everyone a “Perfect Clap” for the
perfect attendance.
1,2,3…. 1,2,3…. Perfect!

Everybody read our classroom rules-MATH

M-must come to class neat, clean and prepared. (Do as told)
A-actively participate in the activities and pay
attention to the discussion.
T-talk appropriately and respectfully to your
teacher and classmate.
H-handle the learning materials with care.

Thank you!
4. Review
This time we’ll review our lesson about
derivatives by doing this activity called “Wow or
Aww”. (Listen attentively)

I will show some statements on the screen.

Everybody read the instructions. Say Wow if the statement is true. If the statement is
incorrect, say “Aww” and change the underlined word to
make it correct.
Raise your hand before you answer.

1. The derivative of a constant function is always Wow (true)

zero.

2. The derivative of f(x)= x 2+ 2 is f′(x) = 2x + 2. Aww

The derivative is f′(x) = 2x.

3. f′(x) = 5 x 4 +12 x3 is the derivative of f(x)= x 5 + x 4 Aww

The derivative is f′(x) = 5 x 4 +4 x3 .
4. If f(x)= x 5−3 x 2+7 ,then f′(x )= 5 x 4 −6 x
Wow

Wonderful!
Let us give everyone a “Success clap” (students do as told)

B. Lesson Proper

1. Motivation
Do you have any questions about derivatives?
Wonderful! None, Miss.

Class, what happens if you type something on a

computer and then press undo? It removes what you just wrote.

What happens if you walk 5 steps forward and

then walk 5 steps backward? You return to where you started.

That only means that we have power to “undo”

things.

Let’s say I give you a derivative of a function and

ask you to determine the original function.

Example, the derivative is f’(x) = 3x2. What is the

original function? Anyone? It’s f(x) = x3

If f’(x) = 3x2 is called a derivative, what do we call The antiderivative.

x3?
That’s correct.
So, class what do you think is our lesson for About antiderivatives.
today?
2. ACTIVITY
This time, I will group you into 5 groups.
Count 1 to 5 starting here. Students do as told)

Group 1 will stay here, Group 2, here, Group

3 there, Group 4 there and group 5.
In a count of 10, go to your group quickly and
silently and form a circle.
Now! (Students do as told)
(teacher starts the timer)

We will do the “The Derivative Match-Up”

activity.

 Each group will be given a card with

derivative expression.
 Undo the derivative by finding the
corresponding functions on the board.
 Paste your card next to your chosen match.

You only have two minutes to do this task,

Timer starts now.

Before we begin, let’s play a game called the

“Antiderivative Multiple Choice Jumping Game”
Each of you will pick a piece of bond paper from
the box, with each representing a different
country.
Everyone, fall in line, starting with the letter A.
I will display the questions on the screen, and
your task is to jump to the letter corresponding to
your chosen answer. You must select the letter of
the best answer. You will have 1 minute to decide.
When you hear this sound, you may stop; you
cannot move or jump once you make your final
decision. Those who answer correctly will
continue in the game, while those who answered
incorrectly will be eliminated.
The last participant standing or the one with the highest Yes Ma’am!
number of correct answers will be the winner.
Understand?

Okay, let’s start!

Based on our activity. What is our lesson this morning?

Very Good!

5. Presentation Antiderivatives are the opposite of derivatives. An

Our lesson this morning is all about antiderivative is a function that reverses what the
“Antiderivative of a Function” derivative does.
Antiderivative are always denoted with a capital letter
(The objective of the lesson were presented) using the explicit rule for functions. This means that the
antiderivative of f(x) is written as F(x), and the
6. Discussion antiderivative of g(x) is written as G(x).
Everybody kindly read the definition of
Antiderivative.
Thank you, class.

Antiderivatives/ Indefinite Integrals

(Listen attentively)
∫ f (x )dx =F ( x )+ C

When you find an indefinite integral, you always add

a “+ C” (called the constant of integration) to the
solution. The “+ C” indicates that the solution actually has
infinite possibilities.

To find antiderivatives of basic functions, the following

rules can be used:

Rule Function=Integral
Power Rule x
n+1

(n≠1) ∫ x dx= n+1

Mutiplicatio ∫ k f ( x ) dx =k ∫ f (x )dx

Sum Rule ∫ [ f ( x )+ g ( x ) ] dx=∫ f ( x ) dx +∫ g (x)dx
Difference ∫ [ f ( x )−g ( x ) ] dx=∫ f ( x ) dx−∫ g ( x) dx

ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES:
