D. Motivation

Class, I have here five (5) different pictures. I want you to observe what is being shown in the
picture.

Sunny Rainy Stormy Windy Cloudy

1. What can you say about the picture?

2. What kind of weather is your favorite, and why?
3. Can you describe your favorite weather based on the temperature of the surroundings
and its appearance?
4. What do you often do when it rains?
5. What clothes are you comfortable wearing when it’s sunny?

E. Lesson Proper

Today, we are going to talk about something

we see and feel every day, Weather.

Now what do we mean by weather.

Weather – is the condition of the air around us

at a particular time and place. It can be sunny,
rainy, windy, or cloudy.

Can anyone tell me what the weather is like

today? How about its temperature?

Let’s take a look at these pictures. Each one

shows a type of weather: sunny, rainy, stormy,
windy, and cloudy. Can you tell me what you
see in each picture?

What clues tells you what type of weather it is?

Can you describe what happens during each
type of weather? (Ex. During windy days, the
trees sway because of the strong wind.)
Now Grade 3 pupils, I want you to describe
each type of the weather on your own
understanding. Write it in your activity
notebook and I will give you 5 minutes to finish
your task and I’ll come back later. Do you
understand?
Hello again grade 4 pupils. Now, let’s continue
our new lesson.

Do you know what causes the weather to

change? Weather has this what we call
‘Components’ which causes the weather to
change.

These components include temperature, wind,

clouds, precipitation, humidity, and air
pressure.

Let’s talk about each one of them briefly.

1. Temperature -describes how hot or

cold the atmosphere is. The
atmosphere absorbs heat energy from
the sun. But human activities, such as
releasing greenhouse gases into the
atmosphere, can also affect the earth’s
temperature.

2. Wind- is the movement of air. Wind

tends to blow from areas of high
pressure, where it’s colder, to areas of
low pressure, where it’s warmer.

3. Clouds- are visible masses of water

vapor in our atmosphere. They are
formed when water evaporates from
places like oceans and lakes, and
then condenses when it cools down
again.

4. Precipitation- refers to any liquid or

frozen water that falls from the
atmosphere to the Earth's surface. This
includes rain, snow, sleet, hail, and
mist.

5. Humidity- refers to the amount of

water vapor present in the air. It's a
measure of how much moisture is in
the air, which can affect how we
perceive the temperature and our
comfort level.

6. Air Pressure- the weight of the air

above a certain area pressing down on
it. Imagine a giant hand pushing down
on the Earth; that's essentially what air
pressure is. High pressure usually
means fair, dry weather, while low
pressure often brings clouds and rain.
Now, let’s have an activity. I have here 5
different pictures together, I want you to
observe each of the given pictures and share
your ideas with the person beside you. I will
give you 5 minutes to observe and analyze and
I’ll be back later. Am I understood?

Are you done with your activity, grade 3

pupils?

Very good. Now, can anyone describe and tell

me about the weather when it’s sunny?

How about when it’s rainy?

How about during windy day?

And stormy?

How about when it’s cloudy?

Very good, grade 3 pupils.

Now, it’s time for another activity. In the same

activity notebook, I want you to write at least 5
sentences you often do during sunny, rainy,
windy, stormy and cloudy day. Give at least 1
sentence of experience you often do in each
type of weather. I will give you another 5
minutes to finish your task. Am I understood?

Here are example pictures of different activities

that are safe and fun to do in each particular
weather.

SUNNY DAY-
(Going to the beach with your family,
swimming, etc.)
RAINY DAY-

(Take a walk in the rain to observe nature,

listen to sounds, and feel textures like wet
leaves or mud.)

STORMY DAY-

(Gather pupils for storytelling or reading

activities to spark imagination during storms.)
WINDY DAY-

(Fly kites in an open area to make the most of

the wind.)
CLOUDY DAY-
(Lie on the grass and watch the clouds with
your family.)

Do you have any questions?

If none, you may now start writing. Are you done sharing your ideas, grade 6
pupils?

What do you think does this picture shows?

Yes, it’s an instrument or equipment’s.

These equipment’s are called the ‘Weather

Instruments’ and they are used to measure the
components of weather.

Let me discuss it with you one by one.

1. Thermometer- is used to measure the

air temperature.

2. Wind Vane- a device that tells the

direction of the wind. Wind direction is
the direction from which the wind is
blowing. (4 Directions- E-East, W- West,
N-North, S-South)

3. Anemometer- measures wind speed.

The cups catch the wind, turning a dial
attached to the instrument. The dial
shows the wind of speed.

4. Rain Gauge- measures the amount of

rain that has fallen over a very specific
time period.

5. Barometers- is used to measure air

pressure in a certain environment. The
level of liquid (mercury) inside it will
indicate subtle pressure changes
caused by weather elements.

Now, I want you to analyze each of the

following instruments and think which among
those 6 components of weather are these
instruments being used. I’ll give you another 5
minutes to brainstorm with your seatmate.

Okay, now that you already know what to do

during these types of weather, this time let us
explore what are the proper clothes we must
wear during these types of weather.

Can anyone tell me, what type of clothes you

usually wear if it is Sunny? Why?

How about if it is Raining? Why?

And how about during Windy day? Why?

Very good, most of you does already know the

appropriate attire to wear during these
different types of weather. Now I have here
pictures of different clothes at each type of
weather and let us explore them one by one.

Sunny Day

Rainy Day

Stormy Day

or

Windy Day

Cloudy Day

Now, let’s have another activity. In the same

activity notebook, I want you to answer this
question.

‘Why is it important to wear the right clothes

for each different kinds of weather?’

I will give you another 5 minutes to finish your

task and I’ll be back after. Do you have any
questions or clarifications to ask? If none, you
may now start writing.
Okay grade 6, are you done sharing with your
ideas?

Can you tell me in what component of

weather, do we use the thermometer?

Why?

Very good, thermometer is used to measure

the temperature. Inside the thermometer is
filled with a liquid like mercury or alcohol
which is being used to measure if the
temperature is high, the liquid will rise, but if
the temperature is low, the liquid will also
decrease.

How about the Wind Vane? Why?

Excellent, wind vane is used to know the

direction of the Wind.

How about the Anemometer? Why?

Yes, anemometer is the one that measures the

speed of wind. If it is fast or slow.

How about the Rain Gauge? Why?

Rain Gauge is used in precipitation because it

measures the amount rain that has fallen from
the sky.

Lastly, how about the Barometer?

Very good, a barometer is being used in the

component of air pressure. It helps us predict
and know if the weather is going to be sunny
or rainy. If the pressure is Low usually it means
it’s going to rain, but if the pressure is mid-high
it means we’ll have a mild cool weather and if
the pressure still continues to rise then we will
have a bright sunny day.

Did you get me, class?

Very good, now let’s have an activity.

In your activity notebook, I want you to answer

this activity chart.

Activity 1: Let’s Identify Them

Directions: Identify what is being asked in the

statement below. Then answer the riddle by
identifying the pictures shown. Write only the
letter of your answers in your activity
notebook.

a.Thermometer b.Wind Vane c. Anemometer d.Rain Gauge e.Barometer

1. I can tell the direction of the wind if it is
going to east or west, north or south. What
am I? ___________
2. I stand in pole, can tell both the speed of
the wind. What am I? _____________
3. If you feel warm or cold, tell me and I will
give you the accurate readings of
temperature. Who am I? __________
4. During storm I can move fast but during
fair weather I can softly move. What am I?
___________
5. When the rain pours, I can measure the
amount of it in a specific period of time.
What am I? __________

I will give you five minutes to finish your task

and I’ll be back after.
Are you done, grade 3 pupils?

F. Generalization

Now, I will ask you questions based on what

you have learned.

1. What are the different types of weather?

2. Describe each type of weather you
mentioned.
G. Application

Last time, I asked you to bring art materials,

right?

Right now, we will have an activity. I have here

a blank sheet of paper. I want you to draw your
favorite type of weather and write the reason
why you like that type of weather.

You will do this activit
