1. Estimate the product of 68 and 8 before calculating it.
2. Multiply: 345 × 18
3. Divide: 745 ÷ 50
4. A gardener plants 189 mealies a day. How many mealies are planted in 18
days?
5. A girl has $1,982 of savings and wants to place it into 2 different bank
accounts. How much will be in each account?
6. Use the divisibility rule to check if 8,856 is divisible by 4 and 8.
7. List all the numbers between 100 and 150 that are divisible by both 3 and 6.
8. Explain why 3,072 is divisible by 8.
Ratio and Proportion
1. Express the ratio 5:65 in its simplest form.
2. A recipe requires 5 cups of cocoa for every 11 cups of chocolate. Write the
ratio of chocolate to cocoa.
3. A hostel has 28 boys and 22 girls. What fraction of the hostel are girls?
4. Out of 200 animals, 65 are part of the reptile section. What proportion of the
animals are in the reptile section?
5. If a bus travels 180 km in 4 hours, how far will it travel in 9 hours at the same
speed?
6. The cost of 4 kg of sugar is $40. What is the cost of 15 kg? (4)
7. A map has a scale of 1:80,000. If the distance between two countries on the
map is 8 cm, what is the actual distance?
