A printed circuit board (PCB) is an electronic assembly that connects
components using copper conductors and provides mechanical
support for those components. PCBs are used in many devices, including computers, laptops, mobile phones, and medical equipment.
There are several types of PCBs, including:
Single-sided
A single layer of base material with a thin layer of metal coating on
one side. These are easy to design and manufacture, and are commonly used in calculators, cameras, and radios.
Double-sided
A base material with a thin layer of conductive metal on both
sides. These allow for more complex designs and circuits, and are used in LED lighting, vending machines, and industrial controls.
Multi-layer
A "sandwich" design with several double-sided conductive layers
separated by insulating material sheets. These are used in more complex circuits and devices, such as computers, laptops, mobile phones, and medical equipment. Rigid Made from a solid substrate material, such as fiberglass-reinforced epoxy. These are more durable and reliable than flexible PCBs, and are used in applications where stability and rigidity are important.
