This document provides an introduction to PCB (Printed Circuit Board) design, detailing its definition, types (single layer, double layer, and multi-layer), and importance in electronic engineering. It emphasizes the role of PCBs in connecting electronic components and their applications in various devices such as smartphones, computers, and industrial equipment. The document highlights that without PCBs, modern electronic devices would not function effectively.

PCB Designing
BANDLAMUDI PAVAN KUMAR
(21BQ1A4902)
What is PCB Design?
• PCB(printed circuit board) is used to mechanically support and
electrically connect electronic components using conductive
pathways made from copper sheets laminated onto a non-
conductive substrate.
Types of PCB’s:-
There are three types:
SINGLE LAYER PCB
DOUBLE LAYER PCB
MULTI LAYER PCB
Single Layer PCB:-
o Single layer PCB is also known as single slided PCB.
o It’s comes with only one layer of conducting material on one side of
the board.
o Examples :- camera systems, calculators, radio equipment, led
lighting boards, printers etc.

Double Layer PCB:-
 Double layer PCB is also known as Double Slided layer PCB.
 It is coated with copper on both sides, top and bottom. There is
an insulating layer in middle.
 Examples:-industrial controls, power supplies, converters,
regulators, .power conservation etc.

Multi Layer PCB:-

 Multi Layer PCB I also known as Multi Slided PCB.

 It contains more than two layers of conductive materials with in
insulating material.
 Examples:- automatic accelerations, fire alarm systems, weather
analysis,
x-ray equipment, gps technology etc.
Format of Multi Layer PCB:-
Outer layer
(single sided PCB)

Inner layer
(double sided PCB)

Outer layer
(single sided PCB)
Why it is Called PCB :-
• A printed circuit board (PCB) is a medium used in electrical and
electronic engineering to connect electronic components to one
another in a controlled manner.
• A printed circuit board (PCB) is a thin board made from fiberglass,
composite epoxy, or other laminate materials.
• PCBs are found in various electrical and electronic components such
as beepers, radios, radars, computer systems, etc.
Importance Of PCB:-
With out printed circuits boards, our devices would not be able to
function.
There are essential in connecting different components and allowing
for communication between them.
Aidditionally, PCB helps to protect these components from damage
and interface.
PCB Uses:-
• Communications: Smartphones, smart watches, tablets, and radios all
utilise PCBs as a foundation for the product.
• Computers: Home desktop PCs, workstations, laptops, and satellite
navigation have PCBs at their core.
• Most devices with screens and peripheral devices also have circuit
boards within them.
