 define what landform is.
 classify the different landforms and
 value and appreciate the significance of different landforms found on earth.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

Topic: Landforms (mountains,hills,volcano’s,plains)
References: MELCS in Science 3
Instructional Materials: Laptop(picture,PPT,video), activity sheets
Values integrated: manifest awareness of God’s creation

III. PROCEDURE

TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENT’S ACTIVITY

TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENT’S ACTIVITY

A. PRELIMINARY ACTIVITIES
a. Greetings
b. Prayer
c. Classroom Management
d. Attendance
e. Motivation
(The teacher divided the class into four groups)

Now class, let us have picture puzzle. As you can see. I

have here 4 envelopes. Inside it is the picture that you
are going to form. I will give you 5 min. to do that. is it
clear? Yes ma’am!

What images did you assemble in the puzzle?

Mountains, hills, volcano, plains
Very good!
B. LESSON PROPER
a. Presentation
Now, we will be watching a video, please observe and (the student’s will watch a video presentation)
listen to it.

What is the video all about? Its all about landforms ma’am.

That’s right! Can you name those landforms mentioned

in the video? Mountains, hills, volcano, plains

Very good!

What comes in your mind when we say lands? the part of the earth's surface that is not covered by water/
the solid part of the surface of the earth
Exactly!

b. Discussion

(The teacher will now discuss the topic)

Okay, so Landforms are the different shapes and size
that the land can take here on earth. Landforms are any
formation of rocks and soil.

Here are some of them:

MOUNTAIN

What can you observe on this picture? (Answers may vary. Guide the discussion to include the idea
that it is a mountain and the image on the picture shows
the highest mountain here on earth called the Mt. Everest)
Very good! Mountain is the tallest landform. Its shape is
like a cone and has a wide bottom. It also has a pointed
tip called a peak.

Explain that a group of mountains is called a mountain

range.

Some mountains were formed by the activity of

volcanoes. Other mountains were formed by
movements within Earth’s surface called plate tectonics

(the teacher will show more pictures showing examples

of mountain)

HILLS

How about this picture? What can you say? (Answers may vary. Guide the discussion to include the idea
that it is a hill and the image on the picture shows the
Hills are like smaller mountains. They rise above the famous hill in our country called the chocolate hills)
land around them but are not as tall or steep as
mountains. Think of rolling hills in a farm area. They’re
gentler and easier to climb than mountains. It is usually
covered with grass and other plants also grow on hills.
Hills formed by faulting, which happens because the
rocks underneath the Earth’s surface are constantly
moving and changing the landscape.

(the teacher will show more pictures showing examples

of hills)

VOLCANO

What can you see on this picture? (Answers may vary. Guide the discussion to include the idea
that it is a volcano and the image on the picture shows the
Volcanoes are landforms and also a type of a mountain famous and most active volcano in our country called the
but instead of peak, it has crater an opening where lava Mayon volcano)
or molten rocks come out when a volcano erupts

Volcanoes are formed when magma travels up through

the earth’s surface

(Ask more examples of volcano they know or can be

found in our country)

(the teacher will show more pictures showing examples

of volcanoes)

PLAIN

What can you observe on the picture? (answers may vary)

Plains are large flat areas of lands usually meet bodies

of water. and often very wide open and its very suitable
for farming like what you observe on the picture And
there are two kinds of plains the coastal and river.

A plain that meet seas is called coastal plain.

A plain that meets river is called river plain.

It might be formed by the eroded soil from the top of

the hills and mountains

(the teacher will show more pictures showing examples

of plains)

Did you understand class? Yes ma’am!

What is the difference between a hill and a mountain? A hill is a small, rounded landform that is lower in height
compared to a mountain. Mountains, on the other hand,
are taller, steeper.

What will you do to keep these landforms beautiful? Take care different landforms. Keep it clean

Alright, we should take care of God’s creation by

keeping it clean. It take years for these landforms to
form. But it only takes a few hours to destroy them.
Destroying landforms is destroying God’s creation.

(The teacher will distribute activity worksheet)

Now class you will be having an activity, you have to
match the picture in column A with the correct word in
column by connecting a line.

(the student’s will have an activity)

(the teacher will give another activity)

Now lets have a quick quiz. All you have to do is to
arrange the jumbled words to form the correct words of
different landforms that is being ask.
Name:___________________________ Date:_______________

Any volunteer to go in front and encircle the words they

found in the word pzzle? (some students will volunteer) Mountains, Volcano, Hill,
Plateau, Valley, Plain, desert
Very good! Lets give a clap for those who come in front.
This time I will group you into four. With your
groupmates, I would like you to make a diorama about 1,2,3,4,5…clap…
what you had learned on our discussion.

Ex.

Students work in group to create a model of

landscapenincorporating at least 4 different landforms.
They can use clay, construction paper and other materials.

At this juncture, I request the 4 groups to present and

explain your diorama on class. (the students will share their work on class)

d. Generalization
Okay class lets see if you really understand our lesson.
Again. What are the 4 types of landforms we
discussed? Mountains, Hills, Volcanoes, Plains

What landform has crater?

The landform that has crater is volcano
What is the tallest landform?
The tallest landform is mountain.
What do you call the landforms that is smaller than
Mountain? The landform that is smaller than mountain is called hills.

What will you do to keep these landforms beautiful?
