Research-Based Instruction and Principles of Teaching and Learning

Direction: Answer the following question based on what you have observed in the class.

Compile your answer in a portfolio.

1. How do research-based instructional strategies enrich the pedagogical content knowledge of

teachers?
I observe that based instructional strategies can try new ways of exploring how
the students are thinking about the concepts being taught. Ask students about how
and what they understand (not in the sense of a test, but in the sense of an
observation.) Ask students what “real life” personal situations they think science
relates and it develops children and young people knowledge of what is expected
of them as an individual in society. It helps them gain skills in learning, coping with
emotions and physical skills it there to teach children and young people how to

2. How do research-based instructional strategies affect the students’ learning?

In my observation the research-based instructional strategies affect the students

learning for students to find effectively learning techniques for themselves to learn
well. Students learn better when their inquisitive nature is engaged. learning
strategies as techniques used by students to become familiar with information. In
other words, it's how we take in information and apply it to other areas of our
lives. Without good strategies, students can struggle with acquiring and using the
information they are taught in the classroom.

3.what do teachers need to do improve their research skills?

The teachers need to improve their research skills in way of delivering a well
instruction to their students, and evidenced based curriculum is another integral
part of educational practices that promote reliable instruction practice and high
student achievement.

The effectiveness of ICT support and changes the way of teaching and
learning in many subject areas. ICT is useful and helpful. It’s an application
of modern technology to interact and share information among people all
fields and develop science through technology. I learned that, ICT gives
easiness to run the teaching learning process and also ICT has helped so
much in the improvement of means and speed of communication. It has

decipher if the answer can be found in a text or online or if they must rely on their
own prior knowledge to answer it. This strategy has been found to be effective for
higher-order thinking because students become more aware of the relationship
between the information in a text and their prior knowledge, which helps them
decipher which strategy to use when they need to seek an answer.

2.How can HOTS improve the students’ learning?

As the student think at higher order they come important because thinking
across to various questions and it will give them an exposure to learn new
things with interest. Teaching English as a second language requires
thinking in English which can make learning easy.

3. How important is creative and critical thinking in the 21st century workplace?

Critical thinking helps people better understand themselves, their motivations and
goals. When you can deduce information to find the most important parts and
apply those to your life, you can change your situation and promote personal
growth and overall happiness and its important because it helps you look at
problems and situations from a fresh perspective. Creating thinking is a way to
develop novel or unorthodox solutions that do not depend wholly on past or
current solutions. It’s a way of employing strategies to clear your mind so that
your thoughts and ideas can transcend what appear to be the limitations of a
problem. Creative thinking is a way of moving beyond barriers.
4.What are the things that teachers need to improve on to enrich the students’ HOTS?

Teachers should lead students through the process of connecting one

concept to another, and also putting concepts into a hierarchy from small to
large. For example, if the concept is "Thanksgiving," a larger concept to
which Thanksgiving belongs may be "Holidays," and an even larger (more
inclusive) concept could be "Celebrations." By doing this level of thinking,
students learn to see how many connections are possible, to connect to
what they already know, and to create a web of concepts that helps them
gain more clarity and understanding.to develop problem-solving strategies,

teachers should give credit to students for using a step-wise method of

accomplishing a task in addition to arriving at the correct answer. Teachers
should also teach students different methods for solving a problem and
encourage students to consider alternative problem-solving methods if a
particular strategy proves unrewarding.

and literature, enriching our enjoyment and experience of life. Promotes essential
skills such as critical thinking and problem-solving. Are highly in demand by
employers and projected to be increasingly in demand in the future
.

2. I believe that the student should be encouraged to engage in elaboration and

explanation of facts and ideas rather than rote repetition. His teachers and parents
could have him relate new information to prior experience, make use of analogies
and talk about various future applications of what he is learning. A teacher should
let the student with higher order thinking challenges know that they will work
together as partners to achieve increases in the student's skills. With this type of
relationship, often the student will bring very practical and effective strategies to
the table that the teacher may not have otherwise considered.

3. I feel that HOTS strategies students need to become consciously aware of the
learning process. This changes students from passive recipients of information to
active, productive, creative, generators of information. It is important, then for teachers
to talk about and teach the components of the learning process: attention, memory,
language, graph motor, processing and organization, and higher order thinking.

4.When I will become a teacher teach students to use a step-by-step method for
solving problems. This way of higher-order thinking will help them solve problems
faster and more easily. Encourage students to use alternative methods to solve
problems as well as offer them different problem-solving methods

Direction: Refer to the classes you observed. A. Based on what you have observed in the class,

identify the benefits of using mother tongue, Filipino, and English as MOIs. Compile your

1. Mother Tongue
In my observation using mother tongue in class make it easier for
children to pick up and learn other languages, it develops a child’s
personal, social, cultural identify helps child develop their critical thinking
and literacy skills. Due to the mother tongue children, enjoy school and
learn faster learning mother tongue show that children to adopt a better
understanding of the curriculum.

2. Filipino
In my observation using the benefits of language in a class allow students to
grasp basic concepts more easily, Filipino language help students to learn
and develop holistically, when learners are first instructed in the language
they know best, they are able to build a good bridge toward learning
another language. it can increase their ability and knowledge in our
language. Teaching your child some ABAKADA, reading for it also helps
develop their brain, and helps create new connections for their brain cells,
which helps kick start and boost their development as they grow up.

and assist in learning other languages.
English should be part of the multilingual curriculum of a country. The
graduates of this system should find relevance beyond their ethnic and
national boundaries. They should be allowed to explore the opportunities
that the national and international economies have to offer. Most world
knowledge is accessible in English, and so, knowledge of English is certainly
useful. It is not true, however, that students will not learn science and
mathematics if they do not know English. The ideas of science are not
bound by one language and one culture.

B. Based on what you have observed in class, identify the strategies to improve the
teacher’s ability. to help students understand mother tongue, Filipino and English.

In my observation the strategies to improve the teacher ability to help students

understand mother tongue, Filipino and English is to use strategies such as
translation of target language utilization of multilingual teaching improvisation
of instructional materials teacher must lead the way in preparing children and
young people for life - long learning.

C. Explain how mother tongue can enrich cultural awareness of both teachers and
students

The mother tongue can enrich cultural awareness of both students and teachers
by means of bringing the learner’s cultural background knowledge into the
class. It facilitates checking understanding and giving instructions. It facilitates
the task of explaining the meaning of abstract words introducing the main
differences in grammar and pronunciation between L1 and L2.

2.In your opinion, how can the school’s learning environment be improved?

Each member of the learning community should have the feeling of connectedness.

They must feel that they are contributing to the overall environment while being a

bigger and important part of a supportive learning culture. Learners can respond far

better to praise than punitive measures. Appreciation is the key to motivation, unlike

humiliation, which is highly discouraging, learners appreciate the freedom to express

their opinions of their peers also pay a crucial role in defining their learning attitude.

3.How does Maslow’s theory explain the importance of security and safety in ensuring that

learning will take place?

I believe each stage of need had to be met before progression to the next stage of need

could occur. For example, before health and financial security becomes a priority

physiological needs for foods and water must be met first. Let take a further look at the

second stage of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, the needs for safety and security and it

refer to the need for security and protection. When we have our physiological needs

for food and water met our safety needs dominate our behavior. These needs have to

1.What can you say about the learning environment?

learning environment involves time, reflection (thinking), and planning. Whether

school-age children are in your program for three hours a day after school or 12 hours a
day during the summer, the environment plays a major role in helping them develop and
learn. Research suggests that a high-quality, after-school environment can help school-
age children’s social skills, learning motivation, academic achievement and learning
environment from the perspective of a teacher or instructor. A teacher may have little or
no control over some components, such as learner characteristics or resources, but may
have full control over other components such as choice of content and how learners will
be supported. Within each of the main components there are a set of sub-components
that will need to be considered. In fact, it is in the sub-components (content structure,
practical activities, feedback, use of technology, assessment methods, and so on) where
the real decisions need to be made.

2.How does a fair learning environment affect the way children learn?

learning environments play a crucial role in student success. Several factors can
affect learning ability, including seating, light, noise, and even color Students
who study in a positive learning environment have been shown to be more
motivated, engaged, and have a higher overall learning ability and people can
provoke a stress response, which has the potential to be damaging to a child's
learning abilities. Having homey features in a classroom environment helps
children feel more comfortable and can help their ability to learn.  they also
bring their students many more valuable things such as helped them establish
ethics, encouraged them to learn, listened to them and helped them solve their
problems. The teachers influenced their students through positive learning
attitude and noble behavior. This is the reason that teachers are respected by
people and society. In modern education system, the responsibilities of
teachers are refined.
3. What could have contributed to the presence or absence of a fair learning
environment?
student learning, engagement, attitude and wellbeing. Calm, supportive and well-
managed environments encourage engagement with learning. The design of the
physical environment and the features within can facilitate or constrain social
interactions and effect concentration. Student behavior, engagement and achievement
are supported through effective classroom environments. Quality classroom social
environments contributed to student wellbeing and learning. Such environments were
characterized by support, kindness, positivity and where there were no judgements.

1.What can you say about the physical structure of your classroom?

A thoughtful physical arrangement of the classroom helps the students anticipate and

participate in the activity and adjust their behavior in each area as well. ... This helps you

teach what the expected behavior is for that specific area and activity. Boundaries need to be

as visually clear as possible.

2. What were the things that you considered when you arranged the classroom?

The Teacher's Desk

This is the most important consideration in arranging a classroom. Teachers typically place
their desks at the front of the classroom. While being in the front of the class affords the
teacher a good view of the students' faces, there are advantages to placing the teacher's desk
at the back.
student desk arrangements.
1. Straight lines:
This is the most common arrangement. In a typical class, you might have five
rows of six students. The benefit of this method is that it allows the teacher to
walk between the rows. The drawback is that it doesn't really allow for
collaborative work. If you plan to have students often work in pairs or teams,
you will be moving the desks frequently
2. A large circle:
This arrangement has the benefit of providing ample opportunity for
interaction but hinders the ability to utilize the board. It can also be
challenging when having students take quizzes and tests because it will be
easier for students to cheat.
3. In pairs:
With the arrangement, every two desks are touching, and the teacher can still
walk down rows helping students. There is also a greater chance for
collaboration, and the board is still available for use. However, a couple of
issues can arise including interpersonal problems and cheating concerns.
4. Groups of four:
In this setup, students face each other, providing them ample opportunity for
teamwork and collaboration. However, some students might find they are not
facing the board. Further, there can be interpersonal issues and cheating
concerns.
 Seating Charts
1. Arrange students alphabetically:
This is a simple way that makes sense and can help you learn the students'
names.
2. Alternate girls and boys:
This is another simple way to divide a class.
3. Allow students to choose their seats:

MR. RAYMOND D. GARCIA 74

SAPPAT,
BSE – SOC.AISA L. 4A
STUDIES [Publish
Prof. Ed. 21: Field StudyDate]
1

Mark this down on an empty seating chart, and it becomes the permanent
arrangement.
4. Have no seating chart:
Realize, however, that without a seating chart, you lose some control and you
also lose a powerful way to help you learn student names.
3.What do you think are the advantages and disadvantages of this kind of physical set up?

Victims

Students who are bullied are more likely to experience depression, anxiety, and
thoughts of suicide when compared to their peers. Victims of bullying often
experience changes in sleeping and eating patterns, and they begin to lose
interest in activities they once enjoyed. Student absenteeism increases,
negatively affecting their overall academic achievement. Their social life
diminishes and creates low self-esteem.

Bullies

Students who bully experience numerous adverse effects. Bullies are more likely
to steal and vandalize property, get into altercations, experience substance abuse,
carry a weapon, and commit crimes later in life. Unfortunately, students who
bully can be highly sociable and do not always have blatant behavior problems,
making it difficult for school personnel to identify them. Consequently, bullies
continue to victimize peers, causing everyone involved to experience the
emotional toll of bullying.

Bystander

Bystanders are also negatively affected by bullying because they often have
feelings of guilt and fear. Some bystanders become active participants in bullying
to avoid becoming a target themselves. Select bystanders generally encourage
bullies by laughing, cheering, or prodding them to victimize others, however,
most bystanders often stand by and watch without directly intervening. Due to
feelings of guilt and helplessness, bystanders are more likely to skip school,
experience depression and anxiety, or abuse substances.

School Atmosphere

The overall school atmosphere can be negatively affected by bullying.

Widespread feelings of fear and frustration can hinder both the social and
academic experience for many students. Victims, bullies, and bystanders often
lose interest in academics, ultimately causing them to dislike school. Bullying is a
serious issue in school, and can cause students to wonder about their safety and
whether school staff care enough to protect them. Consequently, school
administration should implement programs such as peer mediation, conflict
resolution, or zero-tolerance policies to create a safe and inviting atmosphere for
all students.

instructions so students do not have question about what is expected of them in doing
so teachers are able to reinforce positive behavior through modeling and incentives. It
provides a controlled physical impact of learning.

2.How does the classroom set up affect the students’ performance and learning?

The classroom set up affect the student’s performance and learning has the power to
impact student’s well- being and motivation either for better or for worse additionally
classroom design can facilitate the learning experience of students with special needs
how- ever with careful attention to the furniture and layout within your classroom,
you can achieve the correct balance of space usage.

3.If you were the teacher, what kind of classroom structure would you adopt to maximize the
students’ learning?

Most teachers would argue that they never have enough time to reach every student,
particularly the ones that are below grade level. Therefore, every second teacher has
with their students should be a meaningful and productive second successful teachers
establish procedure and expectation that maximize engaging learning opportunities
effective planning and preparation are essential in maximizing students learning time
too many teachers under plan and find themselves with nothing to do for the last few
minutes of class. Teachers should get in the habit of over planning too much is always
better than enough. In addition, teachers should always have their materials laid out
and ready to go before students arrive teachers should develop efficient procedures
for every aspects of the classroom.

Direction: Read carefully and answer the following questions based on what you have

observed in the class. Compile your answer in a portfolio.

1.What kind of classroom management does the teacher practice? Why?

Classroom management is crucial in classrooms because it supports the proper execution of

curriculum development, developing best teaching practices, and putting them into action.

Classroom management can be explained as the actions and directions that teachers use to

create a successful learning environment; indeed, having a positive impact on students

achieving given learning and goals. By creating and giving clear expectations and

consequences for student behavior, this builds effective relationships. Such expectations may

cover classroom etiquette and behavior, group work, seating arrangements, the use of

equipment and materials, and also classroom disruptions. These expectations should always

be enforced with consistency among all students within the class. Inconsistency is viewed by

students as unfair and will result in the students having less respect for the teacher. Assertive

teacher behavior also reassures that thoughts and messages are being passed on to the

student in an effective way. Assertive behavior can be achieved by using erect posture,

appropriate tone of voice depending on the current situation, and taking care not to ignore

inappropriate behavior by taking action. Another great strategy to build a good teacher-

student relationship is using inclusive pronouns.

2.Do you think that the management style that the teacher is using in class contributes to the

students’ learning? Why? Why not?

Yes because classroom management style is described as a teacher having total control over

the classroom and Students are not given the flexibility to be actively involved and

responsive. The teacher maintains the spotlight and control over all aspects of the class. It is

likely that a student who has not adhered to the rules set forth may be punished. This teacher

is most likely to not have formed relationships with their students.

3.If you were a teacher, what management style would you think best maximize students’

learning?

The authoritative approach is the best form of classroom management style because it
is
the one most closely associated with appropriate student behaviors.

1.I realized that

I realized that Learning environment refers to the diverse physical locations, contexts, and

cultures in which students learn. Since learners must do the learning, the aim is to create a

total environment for learning that optimizes the ability of students to learn. There is of

course no single optimum learning environment.

I believe that the most important aspect in a safe and positive learning environment is what

they have in common with their fellow learners in the classroom

3.I feel that

I feel that classroom management and classroom instruction is especially easy to see from a

student perspective. Students have at least two cognitive demands on them at all times:

academic task demands (understanding and working with content) and social task demands

(interacting with others concerning that content.

4. When I become a teacher, I will  develop a learning environment where students feel

3.I feel that

I feel that designing, implementing, and evaluating an educational program, the nurse as
educator must carefully consider the characteristics of learners with respect to their
developmental stage in life. The more heterogeneous the target audience, the more complex
the development of an educational program to meet the diverse needs of the population.
Conversely, the more homogeneous the population of learners, the more straightforward the
approach to teaching.

patience. Other characteristics of effective teaching include an engaging classroom presence,
value in real-world learning, exchange of best practices and a lifelong love of learning.

5.While you were observing the learners, did you recall your own experiences when you were

While I’m observing the learners I remembered those days when I was at their age there’s a
lot of similarities and differences I remembered the similarities are playing with my
classmates sometime not listening to the teacher running inside the classroom etc. the
difference is when I was a child I got warned by the teacher immediately behave unlike the
kids nowadays who are so stubborn and not listening to what their teachers says.

6.Think of a teacher you cannot forget for the positive or negative reasons. How did she/he

LEARNING ACTIVITY TASK 3.1C

Direction: Discuss how the following steps create a progressive, student – centered classroom.

Compile your answer in a portfolio.

1.Create ongoing projects?

The ongoing project plays an essential role in promoting mastery. The key to ongoing

projects is to provide plenty of project choices that enable students to demonstrate what

they are learning. Many objectives or standards can be met in one well-crafted project that

allows students to decide what the final product looks like. The ongoing project stimulates

the workshop environment that is the foundation upon which the student-centered

classroom is built .

2.Integrate technology?

In today’s digital world, it doesn’t matter if your classroom is filled with computers;

students have them in the palms of their hands. Mobile learning is no longer the wave of

the future; it’s the present. Learners will be more engaged in any activity or project if they

can choose from the hundreds of amazing, free web tools that provide excellent platforms

for presenting, curating, and sharing information. When students have an array of exciting

web tools at their disposal, they become eager to participate in almost any class activity.

3.Replace homework with engaging in class activities?

The research on the effectiveness of homework ends up on both the pro and con sides.

Most studies that support assigning homework suggest that it increases grades in class or

on tests. Whether this is true or not is irrelevant. Measuring achievement with grades and

test scores is a false barometer of learning because all the control in these areas is in the

hands of the teacher, and there is no place for control in a student-centered classroom.

With engaging, ongoing projects that are driven by interactive web tools, students produce

more in class, making homework obsolete. Best of all, when not faced with “do-this-and-do-

it-my-way” assignments, students become eager to complete the projects that they have

created and choose to do schoolwork outside of class. This autonomy breeds learning for

the sake of learning—one of the best parts of the student-centered classroom.

4.Eliminate rules and consequences

The workshop environment of a bustling student-centered classroom encourages a pursuit

of learning that allows little time for disruption. Set the tone from the first day of the school

year by eliminating all discussion of rules and consequences. Explain that your learning

environment is built on mutual respect and a quest for knowledge, so there won’t be time

for any behavior issues. Keep activities engaging, and behavior will never be an issue.

5.Involve students in evaluation

Numbers, percentages, and letters on activities, projects, and report cards say little about

learning. A student-centered environment thrives through the use of narrative feedback

that follows a specific formula and encourages students to resubmit assignments that do

not demonstrate mastery. This approach relies on reciprocal feedback between the student

and the teacher. Involving students in conversations about their learning not only builds

Direction: Answer the following questions. Compile your answer in a

portfolio.

a. Based on your interviews with internal school stakeholders on how to promote a gender –
sensitive school/classroom, which of the answers do you think is the best? Why?
The best way on how to promote a gender sensitive classroom is Be a Role Model to Students
because Students, especially younger children, often learn by imitation. As a teacher, be
aware of your own assumptions about gender and try to correct your biases as you notice
them .in relevant situations, empower students to believe in their potential to achieve their
dreams regardless of their gender identity—and that their gender is a strength, never a
weakness. Also, use language in class that is inclusive of transgender and non-binary students,
such as using the name and pronouns that a student goes by, even if it is different from their
school records.

b. How will you determine the strengths and weaknesses of your students?

Engages the students as a good teacher we should understand a great one engages with them.
Sharing knowledge is not a one-off one-way communication. It has to be a continuous process
where both teacher and students participate. To ensure students’ participation and
engagement, teacher should have established positive student teacher- student relationship,
communicate openly, encourage student to speak on their mind, Involve the weakest and
shyest students of the class, Devise new ways of imparting knowledge and Make use of
technology to assist you in teaching.

c. Which among the steps on creating progressive, student – centered classroom is the best

assignments, students become eager to complete the projects that they have

learning for the sake of learning—one of the best parts of the student-centered
classroom.

4. How are you going to use the learners’ needs and interests in creating a more effective
instruction?
For me we should Empower Student Voice to Design Personal Learning Products because A
higher level of activating interest is to have students propose their own ideas for products
and activities. This constructivist approach engages students to do more complex work and
spend more time on the task than they normally would. It also terrifies some teachers for how
to quality control the vast variety of products that students could develop. I'd say that's a
problem worth having, but here's a practical two-step approach:

1. Have clear learning criteria and ensure that students understand them.

Establish what academic skills and concepts must be represented in the product. Be careful to
avoid assessment fog. When students understand the targets, they can effectively design their
own products -- with coaching support for some more than others.

2. Limit the options to a manageable number.

Start conservatively by providing two structured options. Then invite students to create their
own option, based on the learning criteria. The teacher listens to the proposals and suggests
tweaks as needed, or sends students back to the drawing board when a proposal is not viable.
Set a deadline when proposals are approved. Students who don't meet the deadline must
choose from the original two options.

2. I believe that schools should provide students with an appropriate level of curriculum and

reasonable expectations to suit the capabilities of the students, so as to motivate them to

engage in the process of learning. While attending to the common needs and individual

differences of their students, teachers should also beware of adjusting their expectations of

students.

3.I feel that

Schools should encourage students to enquire beyond the confines of 'curriculum

4.When I will become a

teachers can motivate students by expressing high expectations of them, and build learning

and teaching on their success (even when it is small). They should avoid behavior that ignores

students' emotional reactions and hurts their self-esteem. There is both intrinsic and extrinsic

essential to strike a balance between the two rather than to depend only on the latter.

risk of disengagement to experience meaningful learning and the students learn, how

students learn, and how students are assessed. With its flexibility, differentiated

instruction allows teachers to maximize individual growth in the course content.

Question 2: What are your other comments, observations and suggestions?

My observation of this school becomes highly challenging. The first thing you have to do if

you are going to avoid the trap of dealing only in vague generalities ("nice lesson) it went

smoothly", and such acknowledge that complexity. The next step is to realize that you will

have to isolate one or two variables (at most) and focus primarily on these. During another

observation you can always focus your attention on a different subset of variables.

Direction: Read carefully and answer the following questions. Compile your answer in a

portfolio.

1.Does the number of boys and girls affect the classroom instruction? How?

Yes, because it is Physically, boys tend to be more active than girls, and by the same token

more restless if they have to sit for long periods. They are also more prone than girls to rely

on physical aggression if they are frustrated Both tendencies are inconsistent with the usual

demands of classroom life, of course, and make it a little more likely that school will be a

difficult experience for boys, even for boys who never actually get in trouble for being restless

or aggressive.

2. Does the religious background of the students affect the preparation of the lesson? How?

For me yes, religion helps in creating an ethical framework and also a regulator for values in day to

day life. This particular approach helps in the character building of a person. In other words,

religion acts as an agency of socialization. Thus, religion helps in building values like love,

empathy, respect and harmony

3. Does the mother tongue of most of the students affect the medium of instruction? How?

Mother Tongue must be the medium of instruction in all schools across the country. It plays the

important role in framing child’s thinking, emotions, and spiritual world. Learners who lived in

urban areas have the ability to speak and understand some English words by the time they begin

school. However, there are some instances where learners come from rural areas where they begin

school with only the knowledge of their home language. For these learners using their home

language in schools gives theme better understanding of the curriculum content and they have more

positive attitude towards school. The reason for this is because learning does not begin at school,

but instead learning begins at home in the learner’s home language.

4. Do the socio – economic differences of the students affect their learning? How?

In terms of children's learning behavior, we found that the higher the family's socioeconomic

status, the lower the enthusiasm children have towards learning. And different from family

SES, parental education participation and quality of schooling have significant positive effects

on children's learning behavior.

5.Are contextualization, localization, and indigenization of the curricula being done to fit

cultural background of the students?

Indigenization refers to the process of enhancing curriculum competencies, education

resources, and teaching-learning processes in relation to the bio-geographical, historical, and

socio-cultural context of the learners' community. And We localize and contextualize the

curriculum and the use of learning materials in terms of Geography, Cultural Diversity and

Individuality. It helps teachers and students comprehend concepts by relating and presenting

lesson on the context of prevailing local environment, culture, and resources.

4.Based on this episode, what is the most heroic task of the teacher?

For me there are reasons why teachers are heroes. The word hero has been used to describe
those individuals who are on the front lines during the COVID-19 pandemic. Individuals who
fit the heroic description include doctors, nurses, emergency medical technicians (EMTs),
service providers and a myriad of other brave and intrepid people who have worked diligently
to combat the challenges of this unconventional year. As times have passed, and as other
workers have provided essential services, a new population has been added to the list of
personnel who have moved boldly to the front lines by providing a necessary assistance to a
category of individuals who require special care and attention: our nation’s children. Teachers
are heroes because of their dedication and perseverance to make teaching and learning
possible for all children. More specifically, there are definitive reasons why teachers have
earned the moniker of hero.
Teachers go to great lengths to reach every child and they do not give up on anyone.
Teachers make social-emotional learning a priority
Like doctors and nurses who do all they can to help patients recover and return to their homes
to hopefully live a healthier lifestyle, teachers think more deeply about their time with children
and the impact they will have in their lives over time.
Teachers are finding ways to engage students emotionally and socially at the beginning of each
class
Like hospital workers who work diligently to comfort their patients by offering encouraging
words as they combat their illnesses., teachers are becoming more introspective and choosing
the words they use with their students in a more conscientious way.
Many teachers are reevaluating and revising their typical procedures and, as a result, they are
minimizing screen time whenever possible.
Many teachers believe that the focus in the classroom should be on learning and not just
grading, and that retakes on tests nurture growth.

2.Among the different difficult circumstances given by the students, which is the most

complicated? Why?

According to students I have interviewed the most complicated is Poor grades/not

studying or reading enough and the reason is students get poor grades include
external factors, such as the subject matter is too difficult, the teacher is hard to
understand. Other reasons have to do with poor attitudes, such as didn't do homework
and goofed off in class. Finally, there are reasons related to personal issues, such as test
anxiety and problems concentrating.

1.I realized that

I realized in this episode that there are many difficulties that students have

encountered while enrolled in the school. And the teacher has the important role in

considering the different circumstance faced by student by preparing lessons and

strategies. In this episode I can say that a teacher can be a hero because of their

dedication and perseverance to make teaching and learning possible.

2.I believe that

Teacher should encourage students in time of their difficulties by applying those

strategies that help them to regain their confidence. And the teacher will be fair to

students not only for those normal but also for those who have dis orders.

3.I feel that

When students feel that they are loved and cared by their teachers, they can be

encouraged to do their task and responsibilities given by the teacher.

4.When I become a teacher, I will

Direction: Read carefully and answer the following questions. Compile your answer in a

1. Why is it necessary to create the IPED Curriculum Framework?

Recognizing the right of indigenous peoples to basic education that is culturally rooted and

responsive, the IPED Curriculum Framework seeks to provide guidance to schools and other

education programs, both public and private, as they engage with indigenous communities in

localizing, indigenizing, and enhancing the K to 12 Curriculum based on their respective

educational and social contexts.

Fundamental to IPED is establishing institutionalized partnership between indigenous

communities and the respective school’s/learning programs which serve them. This is to be

pursued through sustainable community engagement which guarantees the meaningful

participation of indigenous communities in the inclusion of their Indigenous Knowledge

Systems and Practices (IKSPs) and Indigenous Learning Systems (ILS) in the Basic Education

3. Based on the list you made in the previous activity, most of the students belong to what

particular indigenous group? Why do you think so?

Indigenous peoples have sought recognition of their identities, way of life and their right to

traditional lands, territories and natural resources for years, yet throughout history, their

rights have always been violated. Indigenous peoples today, are arguably among the most

disadvantaged and vulnerable groups of people in the world. The international community

3. How do the developmentally appropriate teaching practices improve the students’ learning

ability?

The teaching practices improve the students learning ability is the Teaching practices build on

each child’s multiple assets and actively counter various forms of bias. Through their

intentional teaching, educators blend opportunities for each child to exercise choice and

agency within the context of a planned environment constructed to support specific learning

experiences and meaningful goals. Educators recognize that children are active constructors

of their own understanding of the world around them; they understand that children benefit

from initiating and regulating their own learning activities and from interacting with peers.

Direction: Request an interview with a teacher virtually. Ask the following questions:

1. How does the school plan for each learning program?

A personal learning plan (or PLP) is developed by students typically in collaboration

with teachers, counselors, and parents as a way to help them achieve short- and long-
term learning goals, most commonly at the middle school and high school
levels. Personal learning plans are generally based on the belief that students will be
more motivated to learn, will achieve more in school, and will feel a stronger sense of

going to learn it, and why they need it to achieve their personal goals.

2. Who are involved in planning?

The involved planning is the senior managers of an organization, and any key
employees, who can actively contribute to the long-term planning of the organization.
Each management team must decide who should participate in the planning process.
3. Are the stakeholders involved in planning the different learning programs? If yes,
how are they involved?
In crafting the School Improvement Plan, stakeholders are members of the working

committee who looks into their involvement in making the school conducive to learning. They

are also responsible for the achievement of the learning outcomes through their active

participation in school activities, programs and projects.

4. How each learning program contribute to the development of the curriculum goals?

Curricular goals are broad, general statements of the department/program will do to provide

students with desired knowledge and skills, and the students will do so that they gain desired

knowledge and skills. Curricular goals are not the same thing as the actual knowledge or skills

those are learning outcomes are discussed elsewhere on this website

5.How does the school monitor and evaluate the implementation of each learning program?

the school Monitor shows whether a system or process is functioning efficiently, as planned

or designed. Evaluation is more to do with effectiveness and improvement, with judging the

quality and impact of processes so as to learn from them or identify ways of improving them

and process of gathering information for evaluating the effectiveness of the curriculum and

ensuring that the intended, implemented and attained curricula are aligned. It measures the

extent to which the curriculum is commensurate with the diverse needs of all learners.

Collaborative learning has been shown to not only develop higher-level thinking skills in
students, but boost their confidence and self-esteem as well. Group projects can maximize
educational experience by demonstrating the material, while improving social and
interpersonal skills.
3.How can the school promote stronger collaboration among its teachers?
The school encouraged staffroom interactions widely which increased the popularity of
informal observations. This also encourages teachers to be a part of other teacher’s
classrooms and observe their teaching which is a direct result of their becoming interested in
the discussions they have in the staffrooms about the teaching strategies. Teachers who are
experts in different areas should not shy away from sharing their knowledge because it not
