To evaluate the determinant without expanding, note that: 1) The rows R1 and R2 are identical except for the third column. 2) By a property of determinants, if any two rows (or columns) of a matrix are identical, then the determinant is 0. 3) Therefore, det A = 0 So without explicitly calculating the expansion, we can conclude the determinant is 0 due to the identical rows R1 and R2.
