CHAPTER IV

RESULTS AND DISCUSSIONS

In this chapter, findings are presented and discussed, particularly the

procedures and the difficulties encountered in Barangay Management

Information System, features to be incorporated in the system, and the usability

measurement as perceived in the system.

Process Involved in the Existing Barangay Management Information

System

The proponents have conducted an interview with the Barangay

Personnel to gather data and identify the processes involved with the existing

Barangay Management Information System.

The Following were the current process done by the management of

the Barangay Management Information System.

Verify concern. Sign in to the manual log book to identify the person who

have queries in the barangay which will serve as a monitoring.

Manual Gathering of Information. Fill up the printed form to be used by the

secretary as bases for producing request printed document.

Validation of Information. The secretary will validate the information

manually as per the person declared on the manual form.

Printed Documents. The secretary will give the printed documents needed

by the person.

Difficulties Encountered in the Existing Barangay Management

Information System

Based on the data gathered during the interview, the proponents have

identified the following difficulties encountered in the existing Barangay

Management Information System

1. Unorganized Database. Lost records can range from a minor

inconvenience for institutions to an enormous hassle that takes

months, or even years to resolve. For instance.

2. Time Consuming. When entering information manually, it takes up a lot

of time, no matter how fast one can write or process information, it will

never be as fast as it needs to be.

3. Human Error. Misinterpretation of data entries are conducted by

humans and there are always room for misunderstanding. Hand

writing is one of the problems.

Features of the Proposed System

The development of Barangay Management Information System aimed to

provide the following features.

Login. The system has a login page section for administrators and

residents. To comply with the input requirements of the system, the login dialog

allows users to enter their login credentials

Admin Dashboard. A dashboard for the administrator of the system in

response to the output requirements of the system to be able to produce reports.

Automated databases. The process of updating data on your open data

portal programmatically, rather than manually.

Printable Data. It will allow you to print the summary of the reports and

paper transaction.

Logs. This feature will allow you to monitor and review the source log files.

Measurement Usability of the System

Twenty-eight (28) Residents of the Barangay Bolosan were randomly

chosen for the survey of questionnaires. A questionnaire for the survey was also

given to the Punong Barangay and Barangay Secretary. The respondents were

chosen using a reasonable sampling approach. While conducting the study, the

researchers also accompanied the participants and provided the survey

questionnaires. The respondents were informed that the details and data they

provided would be kept confidential.

Title/Position Frequency Percentage

Punong Barangay (Kapitan) 1 2.78 %

Barangay Secretary 1 2.78 %

Residents of Moreno 26 94.44 %

Total 28 100%

Table 1.3: Total Percentage of the Respondents

The score for each user is compute as sum of all odd numbers – 5 then

add 25 minus the sum of all even numbers, then the result is multiplied by 2.5.

The table shows that 15 out of 28 respondents scored the system perfectly. Ten

respondents gave a score of 97.5, one respondent gave a score of 90 and one

others gave a score of 87.5. The overall result is a score of 98.21. The average

SUS score is 68, and scoring above or below the average will give you

immediate insight into the overall usability of the design solution. Since the rating

given by the users is 95.5 which is way above the average 68, means that the

proposed system is highly acceptable to the users.
