Civil Engineering Drawing
Civil Engineering Drawing
Introduction
For civil engineers, civil engineering drawings consist of architectural and structural plans. Both of
them are drawn using AutoCAD which is software. The program is very common among engineers as
it facilitates the working pace. The general objectives of this report are to allow the student to develop
its interpretation of drawings correctly, its understanding of basic design and its skill to draw plans,
elevation and section of buildings. Civil engineering drawings are essential for any construction
projects since it eases the communication of ideas in a group work and the distribution of works
among workers by the engineers on a construction site. Communication is improved with the help of
drawings.
2. Methodology of Work
Equipment
Procedure
The measuring tape is used to measure the length of the walls and the columns and their
respective dimensions were recorded.
The rise, tread, height of handrail and headroom were also measured and noted.
Limitation
The measurement of the components of the house cannot be measured accurately to the
nearest 1mm at corners or when objects are obstructing the measurement.
The position of the columns in the wall cannot be precisely located.
When performing outdoor measurement, appropriate clothes must be worn to protect for the
environment.
3. Conclusion
In this exercise, we learn to draw building components such as openings and label the parts using
AutoCAD. The ground floor layout, the plan and section of the staircase were drawn. Different layers
were used in order to be able to isolate the different component of the building easily. In the future,
the use of different layers will be very common when using AutoCAD and will also be of great help.
